Originally, Zhang Fan had been off from work on Saturday morning, so he had wanted to accompany his sister to Bayinbrook Grassland. But now, he would have to cancel his plans due to being called in for overtime on the weekend surgery.
Bayinbrook Grassland was a mountain basin within the Tian mountain range. Snowy mountains surrounded this location which was at 2,500 meters above sea level. The total area of Bayinbrook Grassland was about 23,835 square kilometers, making it just slightly smaller than Ordos Grassland in Inner Mongolia. In the Mongolian language, Bayinbrook meant "abundant spring water". This grassland was flat and had abundant water and plant life. It was a classical example of a meadow grassland, as well as one of the border province's most important locations for animal husbandry. Not only was this place like a fairy realm surrounded by snowy mountains, it also had the winding Kaidu River, along with the alluring Swan Lake.
