The most severe problem would be fat embolism syndrome, which was a disruption to blood supply caused by fat globules entering the bloodstream, a common consequence of trauma such as bone fractures. In other locations, fat embolism syndrome could cause a cerebral embolism or pulmonary embolism. This complication could be fatal. Fat embolism syndrome also wasn't that easy to defend against.

Other potential problems were hypostatic pneumonia, ischemic necrosis, osteoarticular necrosis, and so on. These were all potential consequences from the severe pelvic fracture. The true treatment for the patient would only begin after the surgery was completed.
