My school winter vacation had begun. My family had decided that we go to Ooty (a hill station).
I checked up restaurants on the highway from Mysore to Ooty for lunch. One hotel caught my attention 'Fern Hill Palace'. It was the Palace of the Wadiyar Dynasty. They called it their summer palace. It was an enormous and beautiful palace that was now given away to use as a hotel.
I loved the sound and idea of it. A palace why not? Let's eat there. With the help of GPS we located this place and parked the car inside.
As we entered we could see thick fog and it was ice cold. We got down and entered the reception. The palace was orange and white from the outside and had a huge garden. There was a certain spookiness about this place. The palace used the same furniture and crockery as the King's of those days. Everything that was touched by the hotelier was earlier being used by the royalty long ago.
