Chapter 1 - 1st, The New Boy

Gisselle Wilson ran as fast as her legs could carry her, half expecting for the new boy, Gerald Fernandez, to run after her. But as she turned around to her school building, she knew that he did not. In her gladness, she slowed down her pace and continued walking down the road that separates her school from her housing area in Falland. Her waist-length, wavy, golden blonde hair was dancing in the wind; her hazel green eyes often caught other people's attention when she walked pass them.

Most houses is Falland are painted in white, two-story heights, complete with charming balconies, swimming pools, and clear, spotless windows. Very glamorous, but not a trace of homely-ness. Neighbours come out of their houses just to knock on newcomers' door and warn them not to be loud, when the only sound that could ever be heard, (to Gisselle) was as tiny as a pencil dropped onto the tiles. Kids are forced to stay at home and do small activities like drawing and reading, explained the abandoned playground at the heart of the housing area.

Just in front of the so-called abandoned playground, stood a handsome, white house, just like any other else's... The only difference is that it is more of a mansion than a house. It was Gisselle's most awkward point to have the biggest and fanciest house in Falland, surrounded by fences with security codes, completed with a fountain that has pink water, freshly mowed yard, rose bushes, and even two good-looking, muscular bodyguards and a maid, hired by non other than her rich, doting father.

Gisselle had been living there since the day she turned 16, which was barely a month ago. In fact, that mansion is her 16th birthday gift from her father, who always knew that his daughter wanted to have a place her own to learn self discipline and to become independent. However, knowing that her daughter is a rather clumsy girl, what other perfect idea than ordering two of her daughter's favourite guards and a maid from his own place to take good care of her?

"Good evening, your highness," saluted one of the bodyguards, Anthony, while opening the fence for her. Of course, despites the nickname, Gisselle is not actually a princess. But believe me, she's indeed a princess in her father's heart since she had been born.

Gisselle saluted back at the tall, freckled guard who's in his mid twenty, as she came in. "Hi Anthony. A hot day today. Why don't you come in and have ice cream with me?"

Anthony flashed a guilty smile . "Gee, your highness, you know I ca-"

"It is an order," Gisselle said firmly without looking at him. She turned to walk into the house and smiled in satisfaction when she heard Anthony's footsteps following her. It is nice to have a sense of security in the house, but to Gisselle, it is not a nice sight to see a friend standing under the hot sun all day just for her sake.

"A princess should never open her own door," Gisselle's other guard, tall, dark haired, blue eyed, dimpled, around the same age as Gisselle, though more muscular than Anthony, opened the door for her just as she was reaching out for the knob. "mind if I take your bag for you, your highness?"

Gisselle blushed a little before willingly handed her school bag to him. "T-thanks, Julian!" she said in a voice that was a pitch higher than usual.

Julian's eyes widen as he closed the door behind Anthony, staring at his so-called princess. "Wow, is it because of the heat? Princess, your face seems burning," he placed his hand on Gisselle's forehead.

"N-no. Wait, yes. M-maybe..."

"Aw Julian, maybe it's cause you keep giving her one of those overrated lines that made her feel embarrassed to tell you that she already heard them loads of times before," said Muriel, the middle-aged the maid. She had just pulled out the vacuum cleaner.

Moments later, Gisselle found herself sitting at the table with three of the other residents in the mansion, enjoying ice creams while having light conversations.

"So how was your day at school, darling?" asked Muriel, wiping her tears from laughing hard at one of Julian's joke.

Swallowing before answering, "Yea... It's normal I guess," Gisselle answered half-consciously, suddenly remembered about the incident with the new boy earlier... Gerald Fernandez.

Two days ago, there was this handsome transferred student that immediately caught the eyes of the girls in school. Naturally, he became the talk of the female students at once. Messy, silvery blonde hair; rare grey coloured eyes; perfectly sharp jawline; extremely good looking, but have an intimidating aura... That is Gerald Fernandez alright. Gisselle's new classmate. Probably going to be the prom king this year.

One thing for sure about him that weirded the head out of Gisselle was how much he didn't want to associate with people. Gerald had been rudely ignoring everyone who tried to talk to him for the past two days. And when necessary, gave free glares.

"I need a moment with you," the usually cold, unfriendly, Gerald Fernandez grasped Gisselle by the arm just before Gisselle walk out the door. It was just the two of them left in the classroom. Gisselle thought very suspicious of him... Wanting a word alone with her.

"What is i-" Gisselle's temperature raised, her jaw dropped. Quickly, she smacked Gerald's hand away... from her chest. "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!"

Three letters, W T F!

Without looking at what kind of ugly, or probably perverted expression Gerald had on his face, Gisselle ran away. Ran and then acted like nothing happened.

That night, Gisselle slept well. Knowing that by tomorrow, breakfast made by Muriel will already be ready for her. And her guards, Anthony and Julian are sleeping soundly in their rooms downstairs, closest to the front door, always ready to protect her from any harm. She dreamt of Julian's worried eyes she saw earlier that day, wondering what on earth was she thinking about, hoping that he could do something to ease her mind from all her little troubles.
