Chapter 5 - A Grand Entrance

"Hey, Anorie?" Dia said as she kept putting more energy into the barrier.

"Yeah, girl?" Anorie replied, panting.

"Remember that song 'If I Die Young'?"

"Yes?"

"The lyrics in the chorus, do it at my funeral."

"Yeah, sure."

"Here it goes!" Dia said.

Anorie nodded, saying:

"3 . . 2 . ."

"1!" Dia exclaimed. They jumped backwards into the vortex.

They were immediately engulfed in all the colors of the world. Dia's guts felt like they were flying around her abdomen.

'So this is how Thor must've felt like,' Dia thought. 'Traveling in the Bifrost.'

Anorie and Dia then landed on top of Maria.

"Ouch! Seriously?" Maria complained.

"Sorry, Marie." Dia apologized.

"Could you warn us next time about the vortex?" Anorie asked.

"Why?" Maria asked.

"I felt my guts dancing around my body."

"Don't worry, you'll get used to it."

Dia then took that moment to analyze Maria. She had light brown hair, a ton of freckles, and ice blue eyes which had streaks of a reddish brown.

"Uh. . . guys," Jess said. "We gotta move."

They all turned around and saw the demons slowly going through the vortex.

"Run!" Dia stated.

Nobody complained about the suggestion. They all ran as fast as their legs could carry them. Those in the lead were Maria and Dia, followed by Anorie, then Jess, then Rochelle.

"Hey Marie, you know where we going?" Anorie asked.

"Just follow me." Maria said.

Dia looked over her shoulder and saw the demons catching up. She formed energy at her hands and threw destructive energy blasts at the demons. Anorie followed her example, but the demons were still catching up.

"Hey guys, I have an idea!" Jess said.

"Any idea would be great, Jess." Dia said while throwing an energy blast at a demon.

Jess stopped running and placed her hand on the rocky ground. Actually, the whole terrain looked like the Wild West, but without the villages.

Jess' fingers then began to seep out energy in the color of a light brown with hints of sea green.

The ground around the girls shook and cracked open. That piece of ground then elevated, carrying the girls with it. The slab of ground then carried the girls forward.

In the horizon, they saw a building that looked like a wooden fort. It was emmbeded into the side of a mountain. The gates were just being closed. Dia saw this and yelled:

"Rochelle! Use the plants to stop the gates from closing!"

"On it!" Rochelle replied.

Energy in the color of sea green began to seep out of Rochelle's hands, then she waved her hands around and the plants around the fort responded.

The plants circled the gates and stopped them from closing. The slab of rock then entered the gates as Dia delivered one last blast of energy to the demons.

Rochelle then willed the plants to close the gates. The 5 girls the jumped off the slab of rock to face a few weapons pointed to their faces.

"Guys, it's fine. They're with me." Maria said.

The weapons were brought down to reveal faces of teenagers ranging from 13 to 19 who all wearing sea green shirts which said 'Camp Elemental'.

Maria then talked to a boy in Dia's age and he ran into a wooden house in the middle of the fort.

Maria then came up to them and said:

"We'll be staying here for a few days."

"And then?" Anorie asked.

"We then go to the city."

Jess then could've sworn she heard Dia mutter:

"Well that was a grand entrance."
