Chapter 1 - Diversity

Beauty of life lies in its combination of diverse flavors of feelings brought in by the life. Suffering of mind tries spoiling the body but the pleasure of the body tries spoiling the mind. Temptation of heart defiles the body, tempted body makes mind feel weary. Happiest mind makes body healthy, laughing body turns eyes wet and wet eyes, in turn drains down the mind. What a combination of divisible entities incredibly making up an indivisible individual. A poet once said, "dollar can further be divided into two halves (two 50 cents) whose combination makes up the same value but a Human cut further into two, can never be two half humans." Fullness of life lies in the package of all situations we go through- Suffering, Pain, Joy, Love, Duty etc., However, without having answers for some of the daunting questions of life that come from the minds which marvel looking at the life and the nature in its complexity, not only such a mind, lets us fail to serve the purpose of life but also allows us not to realise that it holds a purpose that needs to be fulfilled.

Suffering:

A man starving for food out of his poverty, can be given a vast amount of knowledge, by explaining him that it is a control of hypothalamus, signals of it,which is further carried out by lateral hypothalamic nucleus, as a result of which we feel hungry and it is all the work taken over by amino acid peptide yy and finally the leptic which stores the fat finally satisfies our hunger, bla bla bla., wait a minute! That's not what he needs! If this is the case, What about the hunger that our heart starves of? Sounds pretty new? Seldom, the weariness of the lifestyle we are in, lets most of the metaphysical thoughts to thrive in our hearts. This is the time, when the mind stops thinking the question of 'what', and starts thinking 'why'. Why Suffering? Why morals? Why Life? Once I happened to meet one of my old friends, he inquired about our mutual friend, just to verify with him which person he is talking about, I asked some physical attributes of the person and they were matched. Lately as he talked about the brother of that person, I realised that the friend he was talking of is not the friend I was thinking of, as he has no brothers. Just think of this conversation and the ambiguity we had in recognising the person; Though all of the physical attributes and names got matched, some of the external attributes (relationships) unfolded the truth. If a man's identity lies in the combination of all the attributes he holds, isn't it evident that identity of a life lies in the combination of all the features like love, joy, pain, etc., Devoid of any feature, life becomes really void. One who hates to be driven through suffering has no right to expect pleasure, for pleasure may give one the joy, but pain gives MEANING.

Illustration:

Consider a telescope used by a scientist, say there were two telescopes; one was made of Gold and the other of Plastic, however; the Golden Telescope which was shining bright, had no good lenses resulting in wrong observations, on the other hand, Plastic telescope was perfectly working and was fetching up good observational data. Though the Golden telescope glittered, the plastic one was valued as it was useful to its maker serving the purpose. No matter how brightly one shines, it is of no use if his/her life doesn't serve the purpose given by his/her Maker.

Christ's Answer:

Ravi Zacharias, in his book 'Has Christianity failed you?' said, today's spirituality talks about the ideas and feelings, but Christ talks about person and the presence of God. We may give ourselves any identity, often even to the extent of the wonder which makes us feel we are nothing but mud, however; to those who are born again, Jesus calls their bodies, the TEMPLE of God. Your feelings matter, your life matters, your body matters, you matter, no matter who you are, if you are willing to serve the purpose. VALUES OF THE MADE, VALID IN THE MAKER.
