Chapter 1 - chapter 1: the dead is not always dead.

it was a dark night, not that I know how to describe how dark it was! but it surely was something that gives you creeps.

I was returning from the party at my friend's house who lives on the other side of the hill.... his house was more like the hill House. the road was almost empty and I was riding my bicycle which I started doing since last couple of months. I was 17 and a little overweight, but my looks compensated the Chubbyness I got(I am simply telling the truth).

I was in deep thoughts, thinking about what to do after I got home or whether to call priya or not. priya is my friend who Friendzoned me. she is more than a friend for me but I was simply a friend for her.

just stupid thoughts!!

I was halfway through the way and it was around 10:30 pm... the aftereffect of a extrahot day was still lingering in the air.

I was thinking all this when suddenly I lost control of my bicycle, it waverd and then just stop abrupty. I was thrown in front and landed flat on face. the pain that went through my head was agonizing. I sat up and saw a dead cat lying on the road, its stomach was open and it's insides were lying outside, this was common in this area because of the big trucks and buses (and even the people like me who don't pay attention to the road while driving)but the most strange thing I noticed was that her tail was missing and her left eyeball was hanging from her eye through a soft optical nerve and some tissues (as expected of a biology student).

I was not afraid but I was worried. it was late at night (not so) , but the people here have a tendency to retire for the day before 10 pm... maybe cuz of the rumor of the dead man walking through the streets.

strange rumors exist everywhere, our town was no exception. I walked to my bicycle and checked for any damage... wait what ❓ I remember my bicycle was stopped abruptly but why)?? not that a cat can do that. I glance around me it was calm, windy and dark night. this road was called 'mala road', and this was an army road.... both sides were covered with mostly forest but there were some camps along the way.

I jumped on my bike and started riding down the hill. mom would be worried!!

I reached home around 11 pm.. my parents gave me a good share of lecture and then I went to bed.

next day, I was in school when our maths teacher Mrs. sheetal, a middle age woman came in our class and asked me to join the principal in his office.

on our way we were walking through the football field (as principal office and staff room was on the other side of the field in a separate building) when I happened to see toward the football goal... my entire body got paralyzed and cold sweat appeared on my forehead.... there on the other side of the road was the cat from yesterday.....that dead cat.... same hanging eyeball and ripped stomach... it glared at me and then ran away.... I stood there dumbfounded, staring at the golf post and first time in my life ,prayed.
