Bollywood films did all the damage to our generation. Or atleast I can say that it did to the few hundred people that my world consisted of. Or else who in their 10 years of age would know that u need to have a girl friend. Being in a Co-ed school we grew up like friends, never really felt there was a difference until that day when a new acquaintance came up to me and asked "hey Dude... you got a Girl?"
I as I always was... never to be let down by anyone I immediately said Yes! When asked who? I named the only girl I knew other than my immediate friends and also knowing that my acquaintance can't realy get to her to confirm my saying. So, yes I took the name of my First girlfriend, which I never thought could come true.
Now situations turned as if it was God's hand that was playing on my behalf. some common friend picked up the matter through a couple of other common friends and then finally she confessed her interest in me. God! Being a kid. getting something I never really wished for. it was like my bollywood movie coming to life. I was brimming with attitude. everyone I came across everywhere had a big smile on their face. i felt royal.
then one fine afternoon, i walk up to her and ask. hey I hear rumours ... she stops me midway and says you heard it right.
and then what... it was puppy love all the way. sitting side by side in class, going for assembly together, submitting classwork copies together, and exchanging greeting cards, oh yes one particular writing i remember of her... "I Love You, You are my heart". I held on to it for few years after that.
Anyway, so now I was brimming with confidence and so, i was becoming rude, one fine afternoon in class i accidentally hurt her eye, and it was all red. the teacher came in barjing asking for who did it. she lied, oh yes she lied she didnt take my name. she saves me from some kind of a punishment, and as i ask her later why, she says "i love you so i cant possibly let u get punished". So now you know how much Bollywood Love Ballads influenced us kid's life. yeah! unbelievable. So now as i was getting all the benefits of being in a puppy relation, i was flying higher everyday. as the session was coming to an end, i get to know she is about to change school, so i go to her and ask her, whats gonna happen as we wont be meeting henceforth, she says she cant go on with this relation as she had to lie for it? i took me a while to understand what she was wanting to say, so now i got it, the incident , her eye ok she lied so that i do not get punished, my God.
Anyway being a kid i was more civilized i respected her decision. m pretty sure if it was now, i would have laughed at her.
As she and I Bid farewell then back in 1998 she asked me if there was anything I wanted to tell her... I asked her, whats this hair cut that u have? ... she said its the Chinese Cut!
