Chapter 1 - Introduction

I've always been scared of death. Death is emotionally traumatizing not only to the dying but to the person you'll left behind. Death is like the period of every sentence. The credits at the end of the movie. Maybe because..for most of us.. death is the end.

"Ms Marshall, you have chronic kidney malfunction which may be fatal if not treated immediately. I'll schedule you for 8 session of dialysis atleast improve or perhaps reverse the state of your kidney...but you also need to change your lifestyle and take care of yourself."

She just nodded blankly not knowing what to say. This will be a game changer for her. She may need to delay her plans. She sent almost a week going through tests to know what's wrong with her. She always hoped that she just need some rest but in the end she was just fooling herself.

Dr. Clarence is a charming good looking guy. They look good together but Maggie has never thought that he will be bringing the bad news to her. She always thought that he will ask her out one day. Imagining that she will be Mrs. Maggie Clarence someday is always her past time. But Dr. Clarence is so strict-looking. He never smile or even laugh on a joke. He's such a cold person. Even when giving her this bad news? There's no trace of symphaty on his handsome face. "I understand...how much is it, doc? Is there a chance I'll get cured?"

"There is, Maggie, your medical bills will be paid in full by the institution. The full amount will be divided in to 2 to 4 years depending on how much is the total amount. It will be taken out of your pay every month." Do live within the vicinity? If not, you'll need to move closer otherwise you may not be able to go to work and of course so we can closely monitor your health."

"Thank you, Doc. I'll do it on a public hospital. I'm just getting by and can't afford to spend on my medical needs."

"I'll help you with your bills, I also have a spare room in my place... you can stay there for the meantime."
