Carson didn't have thousands of voices in his head but he still felt like his brain was going to explode as AP testing approached. They were the first two weeks of May but his AP teachers had cracked down on finishing the curriculum as early as March so the last couple of weeks before the tests could be focused on reviewing everything from earlier in the school year.
He had been so out of it that he completely forgot about college admissions emails until he got his first one in the middle of March. It was a rejection from CalTech.
He wasn't particularly bothered by this and wasn't sure whether that was because he was too tired to care or because Ivy couldn't go to that school because they didn't have a linguistics program. They had an 8% acceptance rate so his expectations hadn't been high.
