Chapter 2 - Quest: Status?

I woke up, my eyes heavy and my mouth dry. I surveyed my surroundings, the familiar view of my room making me relax.

Was that all a dream?

I moved my hand to grab the alarm that annoyingly vibrated. When I hit the button, something fell off my nightstand. I glanced over to see a half naked girl on the cover of a book.

Welp, that confirms it.

I sat up, realizing I was shirtless. How did I end up in my bed?! I checked my smartphone, it was already MONDAY?

I skipped ahead four days, what the hell...

"Hey Keno, its time for school so you shouldn't be late!"

I heard the voice of my Father, a relaxing vibe falling over me.

"Well what does it matter, my son is going to such a high priced school I should make you stay home."

High priced school, if I remember correctly I was going to Terrance High School, the tuition was very minimal.

"Hey daaad!" I called out to him.

A few moments later the old geezer opened my door, "Yeah what's up?"

"What school am I attending?!"

He sighed and pushed his glasses up, "How could you forget after giving such a convincing speech about it. I swear what are kids."

Speech?

"You are going to Oda High School, the rich one that sits on the mountain side, somehow you got accepted."

I looked at my hands, I guess I have to play along if I want information, "Oh yeah, duh."

My Father rolled his eyes and shut the door, "Just don't be an ass and worry about your status too much."

I crossed my arms and whispered under my breath, "What do you take me for, of course I don't care about my -Status-."

VWIP*

My mouth fell open, a transparent screen with text suspended in thin air blipped into existence right in front of my face.

Now that it hit me, what exactly did I wish for? Was this it? To make my life a video game?

Was this really what I desired?

I swallowed hard and checked over all my stats and stuff. I glanced over my durability, why was it so high, also my intelligence is so low. Am I really a dunce...

I waved the thought away and clicked expand on my "skills"

----

Skills

•QuickWitted

•Teleport

•Shadow Step

----

Hmmmmmmmmm.

I clicked on .

QuickWitted- Know the answer to any question immediately. (Once per day)

I nodded, now that isn't a bad skill, I guess the intelligence being low was some type of bug or something. No idiot could think up a skill this useful.

I stopped myself from clicking on . Was this all real? I mean yes I died for sure and the book confirms it but this is my life now. I guess I did wish for this....

I tapped .

Teleportation: teleport anywhere(Once per day)

I guess that one was self explanatory, and without a second thought I clicked on the last skill. The most interesting by far.

Shadow Step: Dodge any attack ( 4s cool down)

I caressed my chin, soaking up the information. Everything was actually pretty neat, just one thing was bothering me.

Social Skills: 2

I rubbed my temples in anger, this was bullshit right? Then suddenly a memory of me dropping the novel in front of Ara surfaced.

I waved the memory away with both hands, the embarrassing moment making my face go beet red.

Damnit!

I swung my legs over my bed and watched as my covers floated to the ground. Even if it all seemed crazy, I needed to accept it, freaking out will only make things worse.

The only problem now was, what did Ara remember?

Only if I knew what I asked for, did the same events happen, I mean the book was right there. I had to of one hundred percent got it that night. Right?

Sigh, this whole thinking like a strong MC was getting annoying, I need to just go with the flow and see what happens. I have such lucky abilities, let's see how I can use them.

I cracked my knuckles and headed out of my room.

"Put some clothes on you animal, what if you had sisters!"

I headed back into my room and got changed. Before I knew it I had my bag thrown over my shoulder and my school uniform on. The black and red looking rather cool. So this was what luxury felt like. I grabbed the door knob, but then something hit me.

How did I plan on getting there?

"Dad, how am I suppose to make it across town in time?"

My father sat on the coach eating chips and watching the television. He worked from home usually so he enjoyed his morning unlike most. The old geezer shrugged, "Beats me, you are the one who applied to that shitty rich kid school."

"Ah, cool..."

I closed the door behind me and sighed. See I usually would of freaked out and started yelling at that couch potato but this was easily solved.

""

SWIPP*

I slowly stepped onto the ground of Oda High School's courtyard. A huge rush of vertigo hit me as I almost toppled over, the idea of teleportation way easier in my head.

Now, I was looking onto a campus that stretched for almost a mile, castle like buildings built of white brick and surrounded by forest.

Oda High School, a place where the richest come to do as they please. That meaning a school filled with assholes. I sighed, "What the hell did I wish for?"

"Hey, you look new?"

I swirled around, a short girl with a bowl of brown hair and yellow eyes watched my face turn red.

"I uh, Hello..."

The girl raised an eyebrow, "Okay... My name is Elise, I am part of the student council and I am in charge of escorting first years."

She was beautiful, to the point I even was lost for words. But one thing was not right. She had yellow eyes?!

What the actual hell?

I cleared my throat and tried my best to sound normal, "Yeah I am a first year, I don't really know what I'm doing."

Elise clapped her hands together, "Well, that is my job to fix." She grabbed my wrist, "Now come on I'll show you around."

I glared at our skin touching. This was the first time I ever got this close to holding hands. Wait, did this count?

She tugged harder, "You okay?"

I grinned sheepishly, "Yep, I am A-okay."

My life must have changed somehow, like not the

-status- screen or anything, just in general. Girls never talked to me, I was supposedly to weird and was called an idiot a lot. But already some of it has changed.

I had to figure out exactly what though.

"So what made you wanna come to Oda High?" Elise asked as we passed a flock of girl students.

I looked at their short skirts, my ming wishing I had asked for x-ray vision.

"I just thought it seems nice here, a lot of benefits."

I swallowed hard, hoping that what I just said was good enough.

Elise grinned as we entered the school, "Same, I love it here."

My mouth dropped open. This was some shit straight out of Hogwarts. There were spiraling stair cases, red carpets leading the way, long marble arches, and glass cases filled with trophies.

"Its amazing isn't it?" Elise said as she let go of my wrist, a sudden depression falling over me.

"Yeah it's amazing alright." I stopped in my tracks as I saw Elise pointing toward one of the many hallways.

That's when an idea hit me.

"Elise Status."

I could not help but freeze up. She also had skills and such. Elise turned around, her skirt teasing me as she did.

"I never did catch your name."

I honestly had no idea what to say, but to save me some time to think, I answered, "My name is Keno, Keno Grey."

She grinned, "What a lovely name."

I finished reading over her status, my mind focusing and a long exhale calming me down, "Why the hell are you already level two, also what's with that fucking social skill eh?!"

Elise was stunned by my words.

"Also how are you stronger than me?!" I pointed at her with anger. I may have wished for a video game like life but this is where I drew the line.

Elise backed away, "What are you talking about Keno?"

I face palmed in agony, "Don't give me that crap, I know you know Elise. Ha, I bet you probably thought you could take advantage of me huh?"

There was no way in Hell I was going to be manipulated by her social skill. She was probably my first quest or something. She may of wanted to lead me off to kill me. I gasped, "You son of a bitch."

Elise looked at me with a complete look of confusion, "ummm, I'm not really into that D and D stuff, you must have me mistaken for someone else."

She was playing the confused role, I knew this gig anywhere. It so many games low level characters with crappy loot will ask a high level to help them out. Then later in a dungeon they would switch to their pay to win gear and mop the floor with the high level, taking all their loot. I shed a tear, I may have been a victim of it myself.

However, never again, I will always remember you TheLegend27.

Elise put her hands up, "I'm gonna go Keno, it was nice meeting you." She started to back away.

I noticed her attempt at escape, "Hey where do you th-"

I caught myself, a sight I never thought I would see befell on my eyes. Right behind Elise, a rotting corpse of a man stood with his hand out, ready to grab her.

Then, it started.
