Reya and Seraph both shot Eo a dirty look.
"Don't word it like that," Seraph said. But Reya burst out laughing.
"Ok, let's just- let's just fight!" Reya looked away while still shaking.
Eo knew the trap could only hold at most twenty or so entities. That meant that they had to get rid of the vast majority of enemies before luring the big bois in.
The three decided that the battlefield should be shifted away from the trap. The easiest way to do that would just to fight the monsters before they got to the trap. However, that meant that they would have to charge the gigantic horde.
The three of them started running forwards towards the horde.
"WHY DO WE HAVE TO CHARGE BLINDLY IN!" yelled Reya, raising her voice above the wind.
"BECAUSE IT'S EPIC!" Eo answered.
After running forwards a considerable distance, Seraph split off and went to the side. She drew her bow and fired an arrow with a white pearl on the end instead of an arrowhead. After the arrow was directly overhead the enemies below, it glowed and beams of light came out, frying the monsters into dust.
"That's one fancy arrow you got." Eo remarked. "I wonder if someday I too will have the ability to kill monsters with a disco ball."
Meanwhile, Reya was charging full ahead with her metal knives. The air was crackling and popping around them. With every slash, a chain of lightning flashed out, letting her down several enemies with each strike.
Eo was doing the same thing he always did. Daggers were wildly flailing around him as if they were being controlled by a three-year-old with too much sugar.
Everything was very methodical. There's a tiger-type. Slash. Too bad it wasn't a real tiger. Those were extinct several decades ago. There's a turtle-type. Slash. Wait, it didn't work? Flip it upside down. There's an Evil Dwarf-type? Have a nice chat with it. Slash. Too bad it couldn't be Eo's friend. And so on.
After some minutes of fighting, Reya came over to Eo.
"Your daggers are bad. Look, they're all broken."
"At what point in our repeating calendar system did you get birthed by your mother?"
"Huh?"
"When's your birthday?"
"Oh… that's in three months."
"Well, happy early birthday then." Eo synthesized a new pair of daggers. He made sure to infuse it with harder and more conductive metals.
Reya's eye twitched as she received her "early birthday present".
"Why thank you." Reya ran back into the battlefield.
A half-hour passed, and the trio decided that enough enemies had been murdered. There were only about fifteen or so monsters left anyways, so the trap should work on all of them at once.
"Eo!" Reya yelled. "Bait them into the trap!"
"Why me?!"
"Everyone here wants to kill you!"
Eo was about to say "Even you guys?" but then realized the answer to his own question.
"Well, I guess I am the juiciest target then…"
Eo ran in front of the monsters, waving his limbs madly.
"Hey, uglies! You have a face even a mother won't be able to love!"
"Eo, they don't have mothers."
"SHH! I'm trying to make them feel bad."
Seraph rolled her eyes and turned to Reya.
"Is he always like that?"
"No, he's usually worse."
Eo slowly led the group of monsters into the trap. It wasn't too difficult, because Eo just had to move backwards. Now that the big baddies were closer, Eo could finally describe them in detail, as they had been previously covered in what Eo called "dark, smoky, evil fart".
The Phase IV Magmus-type was a giant four-legged monster with two arms on top. Its body seemed to be made up of molten rock and lava. The insides were glowing bright orange from within its rocky body. The two flanking Phase IIIs were a Giant Wasp-type and a Zyhurin-type.
The Giant Wasp-type looked exactly like what it sounded like. It was a giant wasp.
The Zyuhrin-type, however, was a spidery creature with a glowing blue disc on the top of its cephalothorax (the section where all the legs attached to). When the disc glowed into a bright white, the Zyuhrin would teleport.
"Almost there," Eo whispered. "Just a few more steps and…"
The Giant Wasp-type impatiently flew ahead of its minions to impale Eo. The moment it landed, the rune formation lit up.
"I guess you could say I… beecieved you!"
