Eo shot out of the building. The half-destroyed door had its hinges shattered and it skittered off a dozen meters away. No, Eo hadn't pumped his leg muscles with concentrated essence like he had done a certain time ago. He had learned his lesson from that.
Instead, he had thrown himself forwards with tangiform. A completely unique and new way to enhance one's locomotion couldn't possible have any drawbacks, right?
Eo was wrong, as usual. He had slammed his face into the door on the way out, knocking it off its hinges.
Eo rubbed his nose in annoyance and ignored the fact that the door now had an Eo-shaped dent in it.
The entire ordeal had caught the girl's attention, and she looked at Eo with a mixture of surprise, shock, and a certain look that said "why is there a strange-looking monster running into doors?!"
Eo threw out the daggers, chains trailing from all of them. There was only one person, so Eo figured that he didn't need to necessarily hide his special abilities.
Eo's tangiform crept up the metal until they fully enveloped his weapons and chains. Immediately they started to bend towards Eo's will, and Eo immediately started to launch a full-scale assault of strange autonomously moving daggers.
To any other outsider who didn't know better, it looked like Eo's weapons had a mind of their own. However, it really only looked like this because Eo was focusing on something big.
The enemy was quite tall, and to bring it down Eo had to somehow bind it horizontally. So while Eo was already making dagger-chains to constantly harass the rubber monster, Eo was also creating a branching chain to capture it.
In the corner of Eo's vision he saw the girl looking terrified at the entire setup. Eo couldn't blame her. Eo thoroughly enjoyed his status as someone who brought in bizarreness and disbelief, a trait commonly shared with some protagonist of a story. Realizing this, Eo reaffirmed his purpose from before. Yes, he wanted to be the protagonist. It was fun.
The slashes continued to rain down on the monster, creating deep gashes on its legs. The problem was still the same as before, though. It was too tall, and the vitals up there couldn't get reached easily. This monster here had 20 legs and 20 arms, and this forest of limbs would make it near impossible for Eo to successfully pilot his daggers into its heart.
Eo then raised his left hand. An extremely thick chain started to materialize, and at one end it split into several more chains. The process continued until what looked like a small metal tree was sprouting out of Eo's palm.
Eo thrust his left palm towards the rubber monster. The tangiform-coated tree of chains grabbed and wrapped itself around the monster. Eo yanked with his hand, and the tree immediately followed, retracting (and constricting) with sudden force.
The rubber monster had its legs (all of them) grabbed and yanked from beneath it. A monster that had never tripped in its entire 738 years of living finally experienced the horror of falling down.
An expression almost too comical for just falling down appeared on the monster's face. It fell on its face, and it was completely unable to do anything as the next barrage of knives rained down all over its neck and internal organs.
The lightning girl just stopped and stared in shock as this mysterious door-planting headslammer took care of the monster without any hesitation.
Eo took a deep breath in as the rubber monster's deflating body sagged.
"So, lightning girl, what's your name?"
"Reya." She responded without any hesitation. "And yours?"
"Eo."
Eo suddenly remembered that he would probably have a bounty on his head soon, but there wasn't much time to worry about it.
"You should know this better than me, but there's a large group of monsters waiting to devour us outside. So let's go inside that apartment building."
