"Don't you need to accompany Annie?" Edward asked casually. He looked at Rain who was lounging on the couch and didn't seem to have any plans of leaving. Didn't Annie live in his house? Edward didn't know why Rain seemed so morose.
"Edward, what would make someone change so much?" Rain had been racking his brain trying to figure this out for days.
"Are you talking about Annie? Is there anything different about her?" Edward asked with a raised eyebrow. Annie was drunk that night, so he didn't notice anything unusual with her.
"I'm not sure. But she's been avoiding me and has been strangely silent around me." Rain felt frustrated. He didn't know what the problem was. He kept fretting over Annie's sudden change and avoidance.
Maybe she doesn't love you anymore? Maybe she's lost affection for you after these years, and she's trying to distance herself from you." Actually, Edward knew very little about women. For instance, Daisy looked at him coldly sometimes, but unexpectedly treated him affectionately at times.
"Is that so?" Rain suddenly felt bitter. He was the one trying to avoid her. He should be glad that she finally stopped being so clingy. But why did he feel uncomfortable? It felt like someone had taken away one of his favorite things.
"Rain, no one would wait for you forever. It's possible for time to change someone's mind, so it's not surprising that she's changed. What's important is that you know what you want." Edward didn't expect that he would go through something really shocking some day in the near future when he said this to Rain. Otherwise, he wouldn't have put it so simply.
"I don't know. I just know that I suddenly don't like it when she's not with me. I begin to miss her when she starts giving me the cold shoulder. I think I have a problem." Rain was feeling disheartened today, and wasn't as boisterous as usual.
"It seems your subconscious is self-aware. I can tell that you don't actually dislike Annie. As I see it, you always have her in your heart. That's why you can't accept her sudden change towards you." Edward smiled in understanding. He wasn't certain about how he felt for Daisy either. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
"Well, forget it! Let me help you get done with the sponsorship documents of the military base. You always know how to torture me." Instead of dwelling on his depression, Rain returned to his cheerful self.
"Fine, go for it. Let me know when it's done." Edward said with a knowing smile. He knew Rain had realized what he wanted, or he would keep staying here.
Waving casually. Rain made his way outside without saying a word. When he opened the door, he saw Anna with her hand paused in the middle of a knock. She almost hit his face.
"Anna, I haven't seen you for days. You look more beautiful than ever!" Rain snapped his fingers at Anna with a smile, acting like a frivolous rich man.
"We've seen each other a lot recently." Anna replied coldly. Couldn't he say something more convincing?
"I was counting the days until I see you again. We're meeting each other for the first time in days!" Rain touched the bright purple earring on his ear in habit. He could show his enchanting personality through a joke.
"Mr. Rain, the person you long for everyday is definitely not me. You're barking up the wrong tree." Anna said snappily, rolling her eyes in dissatisfaction. Would it kill him to stop acting cute?
"Anna, you're hurting me. You should know that I've been thinking about you for days." Anna got tired of Rain's playboy antics and turned towards Edward.
Rain didn't get upset with Anna's dismissal. He touched his nose and walked towards his office. He had gotten used to Anna's indifference. Like boss, like employee. Anna was just as disagreeable as Edward. Rain grumbled to himself as he walked away, forgetting that he was also one of the employees.
"Edward, Ouyang Foreign Trade called to make an appointment. Would you like me to include it in today's schedule?" Anna was confused about the situation. Edward was the son-in-law of Ouyang family. Why did they go out of their way to make an appointment? It didn't make sense.
"What? They called again? I'm busy today. Schedule it tomorrow." Edward frowned. What was Leo's purpose for meeting with him? He was supposed to see Daisy.
"Alright. Your schedule for today is in the notebook. If you have no further instructions, I'll leave." Although Anna was also suspicious, it was none of her business. She had no intention of looking into it.
"That's all. You can go now. I'll let you know if anything changes." Edward loosened his tie as he studied his schedule. He narrowed his eyes when he saw an appointment with the Lin Group. They never had a business contact together before. Why did they want to cooperate with him all of a sudden?
Anna stood silently in the office for a while. Before she could leave, Edward called her attention.
"Anna, why is the Lin Group here?" The Lin Group was the company of Jessica's family. Was this one of her new tricks?
"Oh! It's for the signing document delivered by the construction company. All the steel used for our new buildings was provided by the Lin Group." Anna was also a little astonished when she first saw the document. But she immediately calmed down afterwards. She pondered how strange things work in the business world. One moment, you're re enemies , and the next instant, you're partners.
