Finally, a place to rest. I collapsed once Ivan and I were inside an old and rustic bungalow. When I was out of my consciousness, Ivan cleaned my wounds and put dressings on them.
After the executions at the basement, our bodies were carried outside the field to be burned to dust so no one could ever find us, not even our graves. With the help of Sergev, Ivan managed to mislead his fellow comrades and he removed my body on that shallow ground before someone doused the bodies of my family and that impostor boy from the village with gasoline and set them on fire.
Sergev was once a religious man who wanted to become a priest but became disillusioned because of poverty and massive corruption in our country. The propaganda movement orchestrated by the Bolsheviks blamed everything on the Romanovs. They stirred up anger on the working class people and encouraged them to use violence against the enemy.. my father, the Tsar.
At first Sergev believed that revolution was the only way to build a better future for Russia. After my father's forced abdication, the true face of the Bolsheviks has revealed itself and tyranny was born. It was not for the people's best interest but for Lenin and his party alone.
Ivan and Sergev were brothers by fate. They both came from poor families, both wanted to go to priesthood but found themselves under the service of the Red Army as Red guards. Ivan saved Sergev's life not once but twice in battles and as gratitude, he gave his words to him that one day he will repay him in whatever ways he could.
