White rice, chicken soup, vegetable salad, fried fish and my others exotic types of dishes were carefully arranged on the table by Lilth. "It's my first time having to prepare a meal for someone other than myself, so I kinda went over board" she explained in a muttering tone as noticed Jack's absent gaze.
Such type of multiple dishes for dinner is a normal occurrence for the rich but to Jack who at times had nothing but left over bread for dinner, it was like a gift from heaven, his mouth was already watering the more he stared at all the meals on the table.
But even with all that, he didn't lose control of himself as he turned and asked her "can I?". "By all means help yourself out" she replied back with a smile and without hesitation Jack started eating, he ate and ate till he could eat no more.
Now it was now Lilth turned to be surprised by Jack's appetite but before she knew it, Jack who was seating opposite her had already already fallen asleep. Seeing this cause her to feel a little disappointed because she wanted them to discuss about all they had experienced toady but that didn't last for long as remembered that tomorrow was another day.
Jack slept like a kid for over 12 hours and by the time he woke up, it was already noon the next day. Finding himself on the sofa he felt grateful to Lilth because thanks to his increased perception his brain power had also improved allowing him to clearly remembered all that happened last night including where he had fallen asleep.
When he had first woken up, all he had experienced yesterday felt like nothing but a dream but his newly improved senses and extraordinary power rushing through his veins said otherwise. The constant sounds of gunshots and wailing of people from outside had not only woken Jack up from but driven away his appetite to eat the breakfast she had prepared for him.
Quickly putting the set of clothes she had also prepared for him which comprises of a gray T-shirt, black short and gray sneakers, Jack couldn't help but chuckle as he thought inwardly "feels like I already have a wife". Jack then took hold of his katana and backpack after a little contemplation before heading down the building.
"Damn, this really looks like a scene only found in apocalypse movies" commented Jack the very moment he arrived on the street outside the apartment. The smell of burned flesh, blood and gunpowder filled the air while wrecked cars, burning buildings, frighten humans, monsters carcasses and human remains were all Jack saw, chaos was everywhere.
Easily navigating his way through all this, Jack who was tracking the periodic sounds of gunshots finally caught sight of a large group of people. Soldiers from both the army and navy, police officers, evolver as the world has come to call people like Jack and even civilians could all be found within the group.
Numerous cars have been lined up together to form a defense line against a horde of monsters and in front of the cars were evolvers who made use of knives, daggers, swords, poles and even wooden clubs usually held by goblins to fight against the horde.
Behind the defense line stood multiple soldiers and police officers who made use of guns to take out all the monsters capable of delivering long range attacks like the goblin archers or any monster fortunate enough to cross the defense line. The civilians weren't staying ideal also as they will drag away all the carcass of any monster shot down within the defense line.
Today's monsters horde was comprised of two different types of monsters which were goblins and what Jack believed to be kobolds. unlike the dwarf like goblins, kobolds were all equal in height with regular humans but they all had dog like heads and furs.
They also weren't half naked and bare handed like most goblins as each kobold wore an armour made completely of leather and held a crudely crafted weapon. Although this monster looked exactly like those usually seen in RPG games which could be easily killed. Jack knew fully well that this wasn't a game were one could die over and over again but reality were your first death shall be your last death.
With knowledge of that, there was nowhere in hell he was going to underestimate his enemy or overestimate himself even though he was now a warrior with 3 attributes nearly double of that of an average male adult. So, he decided to first appraise one of the two nearest kobolds.
[Monster]
Name:None Race:Kobold
Tier:Iron Designation:Warrior
Strength:1·7 Agility:1·2
Constitution:2·0 Stamina:1·8
Perception:1·2 Mana:1·0
Traits:Low sentient
Skills:Resilient fur,???,???
After taking a look at its status, Jack's heartbeat quicken because of fear about the difference in attributes even though he too was also a warrior, but he also felt happy about the fact that he was cautious enough to avoid such a quick death as he was no match for the kobold since it had overwhelmed him in every attribute. Inwardly he swore to alway use appraisal on any new type monster ever comes across.
Carefully avoiding the two nearest kobolds, Jack successfully ambushed a goblin which he had spotted earlier from a distance, pulling out his katana which had easily pierced the goblin heart from behind, he picked up a blue nucleus before dashing towards his next target a couple of meters away.
Clank! sword and sword collided surprising both jack and the goblin. Immediately, Jack had a feeling that the goblin he was currently facing was different from all the other goblins he had ever come across. Although he had a desire to use appraisal on it and find out what makes it different, he couldn't afford to as the goblin was already attacking him.
Tilting his body to the side, he easily evaded a slash from the goblin sword and countered with a slash of his own which was awkwardly evaded by the goblin. "Chance" thought Jack as he quickly aimed another slash at the arm which held its sword successfully cutting it off but at that moment, the goblin did something nobody would have expected, it screamed "Aarhhhhhh.....!!!"
"Shit" Cursed Jack as he quickly beheaded the goblin instantly silencing it but
unfortunately for him, the two kobolds he had avoided earlier had already been alarmed by the goblin scream and were charging in his direction.
The appropriated thing to do in this kind of situation is to flee but too bad for Jack, he couldn't do that due to an unexpected crisis. Because the moment he had decapitated the screaming goblin, the voice of the world as everyone has come to call it had sounded again in Jack's head.
[Congratulations! you have learned a new skill 'basic swordmanship']
Jack's body had become immobile as knowledge involving swordmanship flood his mind from God knows where. Methods on how to better wield a sword, angles to attack from and even ways on how to better defend with sword kept flashing through Jack's mind forcing him to fall into a trance.
While all this was happening to Jack, a slightly faster kobold had already bridged the distance between him and it, raising up it's spear, it stabbed it towards Jack's heart with a desire to kill him in one strike. "Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine myself dying this way" thought Jack as he watch the spear approach his chest.
