Chapter 86 - Return to the Divine Hall

"This is called the Divine Hall. Apparently it's a place where humans store their cultivation techniques. There's also some old human weapons, as well as few dead humans wrapped in cloth and stored in boxes." He based this explanation on what he heard the day he came, as well as the places he went through during his last excursion.

"They keep their dead in boxes?" Dead weight, er, the little wolf seemed disturbed at the thought. Hades nodded, as he had similar thoughts the last time he came.

"I don't know if that normal in this time though, what do you Wolves do with your dead nowadays?" He spoke like an old man catching up with his grandson, though the topic was a little off.

"We just leave them be, and let them return to nature, like normal living creatures. I have no idea what you'd do with a dead person in a box though."

"Me neither. Now stay or follow, it's up to you. He turned around with those words, and headed toward the quiet building.

"Of course I'm coming! Why did I even come here otherwise? I have to monitor you!" She trotted after him.

He initially wanted to enter in a similar manner to before, through a window, but he realized that the little wolf had once again become dead weight. The windows simply weren't big enough for a 2 meter wolf to just slip through.

He had also learned a little about human security since the last time he was here, and knew about security cameras and whatnot.

He figured he should be fine, because without a collar, he just looked like some stray cat. But the wolf was different.

It was big. A conspicuous silver color. There would be no mistaking it.

If it was just him, he could walk along the ceiling beams, where the cameras couldn't see, but he wasn't sure if the wolf could do the same.

"...How about you stay here and I'll go alone." He suggested, even though it was him who said that t was up to her a second ago.

"Do you plan to leave me, your escort, who has never been in a human city before, by myself?" Her eyes narrowed.

On second thought maybe it was a bad idea. He didn't trust her enough to leave her by herself.

He decided he had no choice but to take the window route, and make her fit. Then see if she can walk on the beams at that point.

They soon found a window on the opposite side of the entrance he went in before, as that place would be chock full of security. He cut it open quickly and slipped inside, he looked around a bit to see if there were any cameras. But there was only one in the entire room, but it only watched the things inside, so the windows were in its blind spot.

He then signaled to the little wolf.

She then squirmed into the window entrance, but was having a bit of trouble.

He went over and tried to chip at the sides of the window to make the opening bigger.

She eventually got in, though if they get out, they would find out later.

He then personally carried her to the rafters, as apparently one could only skywalk while going a certain speed.

The beams squeaked uncomfortably. But it seemed fine. She walked on it carefully. Though the beams were thin, she was balanced enough to walk.

So his worries were no more as he lead the way.

The room they were in currently, had some weird rocks as exhibits. They all seemed to have some sort of script on them, though he couldn't read it at all.

"What's with these rocks? I thought you said there would be dead humans in boxes?" It seemed her expectations were disappointed.

"They seem to be some old forms of human scriptures, when they still wrote on stone." He surmised.

They moved on, as the rocks were boring. The next room was filled with animals.

Or at least it looked to be so, but none of them were alive. They were upright, yet lifeless.

"Did they preserve the corpse of these species?" He thought out loud.

"I think I heard of this, my mother told me once that if you were caught by humans, they'd kill and stuff you to use as furniture." The science of taxidermy. There were furry elephants and big lizards. As well as large felines and wolves.

The little wolf looked at them while lost in thought.

"Do they interest you? Or do they bother you?" He asked in sight curiosity. He saw some grey wolves, and thought that they perhaps might be related or something.

"I just thought that that elephant looked a little tasty..." she said, licking her lips.

He sighed, moving on to the next room.

This one had a guard, so they moved slowly. This room was filled with pieces of wood anyway, so they moved on quietly.

The next room startled them, as it looked like there was a lot of people. But silence was the only thing echoing in the room.

"They're fake. Like the animals?" He wondered if there was a connection.

"Do they stuff each other too?! Humans are monsters!" She looked on in shock.

They hurried out, as it was a little creepy how they all had big grins and weird poses.

Eventually he got to his destination.

The library of the Divine Hall.
