Chapter 82 - Bringing a Girl Home

Chen Yan had just woken up to make breakfast, when Ling'er ran into her room.

"Sis! Sis! Xiaohei is missing!" She looked worried and scared.

"Eh? What are you talking about...?" She was still half asleep.

"This morning, I woke up, and he wasn't there! I looked all over the house!"

"Calm down. It's impossible for him to get lost. Can't he sense your location? You can do the same. Just ask him where he went through your soul link." Chen Yan drank some coffee to wake up completely, and gave her obvious solution to her little sister's frantic self.

"Ah! You're right!" It seemed she had completely forgotten about her ever so important and unique soul link. She then left the room.

Chen Yan fired up the stove she hadn't used in a while, since she had an energy efficient fire breathing tiger in the house. Now that he wasn't here, she had to start using electricity.

She zoned out faintly, dreaming about how low the electricity bill would be. Now if only he can make pure water, then they could save on the water bill... actually, on second thought, she wouldn't want to drink anything that came out his body no matter how pure it was or how much money it saved. It just sounded weird.

At the disturbing thought, she had been jolted out her half asleep state.

Wait a second, why is that dumb tiger gone anyway?! He wasn't supposed to leave the house without one of them! What if he gets into some absurd trouble again? What if he massacres a bunch of random people in the street?!

But then again, she didn't think he would do something reckless unless provoked.

But. Then again. It was entirely possible that he might murder a classroom of children for throwing rocks at him. Her heart filled with dread at the thought.

Then her sister ran in again.

"So, do you know where he went?" She asked, hoping it wasn't in a densely populated area.

"Xiaohei is bringing a girl home!" Chen Yan nearly spit out her coffee.

That's what he's up to now? He looked like he was 3 months old! He didn't look like the type to do something like this!

She took a few deep breaths, calming herself down.

She thought rationally. In the end, he was an animal, it was natural to have some primal instincts. In fact, how well do they even know him? Though, it's not like he was something complicated.

She figured she was just surprised because rather than a dog or cat, Xiaohei acted more like a person from the countryside. He acted intelligent and curious.

Finally she turned to her sister.

"Explain."

"Xiaohei said not to worry, he just took a walk in the woods, made friends with the wolf queen, and was bringing her daughter back!"

Chen Yan analyzed the situation.

It seemed he went into the forbidden forest for some reason, and met with the leader of some wolf pack for some reason, and brought home her daughter. For some reason.

Her analysis yielded no results. How did that even happen?!

Fine, go in the woods and make friends with a pack of wolves! Why do you have to bring one home though?!

Is this what it means to bring a wolf into one's home?

Suddenly Ling'er's head shot up.

"He's home! Let's meet his girlfriend!" She ran out excitedly.

Chen Yan followed her quickly. What would she do if the wolf is dangerous?!

When they came out they saw Xiaohei smacking a wolf's head, and then growling something at it.

The wolf was thrice Xiaohei's size, had a beautiful silver color, and had a crescent moon mark on its forehead.

"Is this your girlfriend, Xiaohei?!" Ling'er shouted excitedly as she ran toward the silver wolf in glee.

The wolf kept itself at a distance though, avoiding her by circling around Xiaohei. The silver wolf glared at her and Ling'er, obviously not trusting them at all.

"Girlfriend? What's that?" She heard him ask through the soul communion link she quickly established. He had instinctively accepted it.

"It's a special friend that you want to spend the rest of your life with!" Ling'er explained what a girlfriend was to Xiaohei, who was standing with the silver wolf.

He thought for a minute before saying,

"A mate?" His tiger face twisted in disgust.

"What nonsense are you saying. I would never become mates with a wolf! That's extremely unnatural!" He said with a face of repulsion.

The silver wolf looked at the two of them in confusion, obviously unable to understand their words. Then barking a few times.

"What did she say, Xiaohei?" But at the question, he looked at her oddly.

"I wouldn't know. I haven't learned the language of the wolves here yet." As if it was obvious.

"Eh? But aren't you both animals? I thought all animals could understand each other." Ling'er was confused.

"Are all you humans so foolish? Why would I know their language? I just woke up in this era, I only recently learned one of your human languages." Then his widened, and then narrowed.

"Hold on. Are you humans really so arrogant that you think all other species from yours can be wrapped up in a single group?"

Chen Yan listening was shocked, was here a strange misconception going on?

"Of course not! There are fish, mammals, reptiles, and birds! We learn this in school!"

"You're mistaken in thinking all species other than yours speak only a meager 5 different languages based on some basic categories. There are countless species. You humans alone have dozens of languages among yourselves already, why do you think other species are different?"

Chen Yan realized the misconception as well.

"Does that mean dogs in different countries speak different dog languages?" Chen Yan asked.

"Isn't it obvious? Aah yes, Chen Yan, Do that soul communion thing with her, it would really help." He then turned to the wolf to meow some things at her.

Chen Yan only now remembered that she could do that with other animals as well. She quickly started one, which the wolf received, it seemed to understand what she was doing.

"Greetings humans, I am Yin Xi, of the Moondance Wolf Tribe! I hold the noble Silver Moondance Wolf bloodline, now revel before me!"
