Chapter 67 - Mercy

When Hades got caught by the stupid tortoise, he was quite sure that, though the lightning wouldn't kill him, he would be severely wounded.

He cursed this stupid turtle for doing something foolish like sacrifice. Rather than sacrifice, isn't the term suicide? We live to live, not to die, so why spend it killing yourself? For the sake of another? Ridiculous. As long as you yourself is alive and well, that's all that matters, was his personal opinion. It's what kept him alive after all

But he did not blame the poor foolish tortoise, as the slave contract was absolute after all.

He resisted the best he could, his main focus to escape, so the damage he caused to the tortoise wasn't fatal, but the bolt struck them dead on.

He was not unfamiliar with lightning. In the abyss, there were also beings who followed or conjured thunderstorms, then harnessed their power with unique properties of their body. He was struck by lightning before as well, but his body was strong, he did not die, but it hurt like your body was boiling from the inside out in the span of a second.

This time was no different. He felt the terrible pain wrought from the power of light speed bolt of fire. It felt like dozens of blades had pierced every part in and on his body. It felt like he drank magma straight from he bottle. In short, it was terrible.

Another thing he felt bad for was Chen Ling. Their souls were linked, and their bodies were as well by proxy. They will naturally feel and receive a portion of what the other is experiencing. Lightning was a good example. While he had experience and getting hit by lightning, Chen Ling didn't. The portion of pain she experienced was too great for her to bear, and she directly passed out. He could feel the sorrow in her heart as she fell, which only fueled his fury.

When the shock ended, he was surprised to see that none of his internal organs were heavily injured, and he only had a light char on his skin. Instead, there was a strange vitality awakening inside him. But for now, it was of no concern, he would rather focus on these insolent brats.

He no longer held back. A roar of fury resounded across the area, and wide wings of light leather instantly spread from his back, and the blade in his tail was unsheathed with an ice like chill.

None of the different gods the humans believed in could know how much he wanted to kill them, these insolent creatures. But he could not. Though angry, he was still rational. It is not strength that is the greatest ability for survival, but cool headedness. A reckless being dies right away, no matter how strong. A calm one decides allies, enemies, and grudges, as well as when and how to act, so as not to die.

He knew that all of these children had backgrounds greater than that of Chen sister's, who had no such thing. If he offended one too much, it might compel a disaster.

Thus he decided to make it so that they could never raise their heads before his presence ever again.

The poor children were already trembling in their size small shoes. But the four foolish beasts before him stood bravely, their confidence bolstered by each other's presence. There was even a hollow core realm beast. Another stupid bird. He was sick of them. It was of no concern though.

He chuckled coldly when he remembered how the foolish serpent tried to off him with its flying advantage, as well as show off with its wind prowess, but now he would show it how it's really done.

The leathery wings beat across the earth repeatedly, it was causing a burst in the air with each beat, evidence of the strength of the wings. This kind of strength was not normally achievable, but the whole of his remaining tyrants qi was pumped into them, as well as the Plunder ability, sapping their strength through their wounds.

Wind and dust stirred around the area, forming a boundary of rushing air around the playground. Any leftover ice mist was stirred away, and dust and earth followed the wind.

There was now a massive dust vortex swirling in the air, the wind itself wasn't that strong, but the gathered dust obstructed all of their visions.

The stupid snake tried to show its amateur attempt at controlling wind, but it was merely a joke before Hades. A single flap, a concentrated torrent wind exploded on the serpent, sending it crashing to the ground.

The flapping changed again, and the vortex concentrated itself into a 3 meter wide vortex with Hades at its center. Only a vague shadow of his form shown, now looking far bigger with the effect of the dust storm, along with his now scarlet eyes glowing so bright with tyrant qi that the pupils couldn't be seen.

Now, only the spirit beasts could feel the fearsome strength of this wind. Their masters had long since soiled their pants watching the hellish pair of demon eyes on the shadow that were like guides to an infernal plane.

The spirit beasts desperately attempted to resist, the white tiger used its full strength to make walls of ice, the tortoise made a dome of mud around them, the serpent futilely made another wind barrier, while the bird made a wall of multi-colored fire.

But no matter what they tried, it was either consumed or eroded by the wind, all resistance tore apart before the unstoppable figure of Hades, to them, now a personification of a god of death.

Once their resistance was culled, thousands of gashes instantly appeared over their bodies, the serpent and the bird no longer able to even rise from the ground, the tiger was slowly losing consciousness, the turtle in fear of eternal slumber. Their eyes lost their glimmer, and Hades knew the time was right. He approached the serpent, which could barely lift its eyelids, only to meet the sinister red eyes right in front of it.

The moment it made eye contact, it felt like it's soul would be devoured by the overwhelming presence.

The serpents soul itself began to feel like cracking under the terrifying pressure, as red qi seemed to deep into it's distraught eyes...
