Chapter 95 - Mind Games

War mind had managed to capture the sun mage. According to him the man was not the fighter he had expected. The minds thoughts seemed both relieved and sad at that time. His puppet had taken damage. The puppet was his most valuable possession. The moon mage understood his attachment and decided that fixing it would be the best reward he could give him. Making a corpse immortal was a difficult challenge.

Albei knew animating flesh but it tended to rot. He had to find a new way to heal a corps. First thing first would be making the thing alive again. The mage began writing runes on the body with moonstones and filled the stomach with a lot of blood stones. He had considered replacing the heart but that seemed counterintuitive. The mage finished writing the runes and began to channel moonlight into the body.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

The mage put his ear to the body and listened to the heart begin to beat. The beat began to grow weaker. The mage consulted his books for what might fix this. The mage found a page on how lungs worked. He began to apply magic and massage the chest. The lungs began to cycle air through the stiches in the neck. Blood began to spill out through the neck wounds.

Well, the blood is unclotting though the mage as he began to treat the injuries in the neck. Other wounds began to spill blood and the body began to twitch in pain.

"Fuck!" shouted the mage, "Milled get in here I need your help!"

All the corpses' injuries and decay began to make themselves known to the mage. The albino rat skittered into the room. She looked at the body began to heal the rot and wounds. The two mages managed to stabilize the body.

"Pail Scourge?" asked Milled. "How did you do this? Isn't this the process to create a wight?"

"Almost this is more expensive and needs very carefully planning of wounds," explained the mage.

"You have cured death," whispered the rat.

"No, I have not," explained the mage. "Take a look the body might be alive bot the mind is still gone."

The mage poked the bodies head. The body stared into nothingness.

"War mind," called the mages mind. "Can you work your body?"

The puppet sputtered and twitched.

"Something is blocking me," responded War mind.

"We might need to remove some stuff," commented the mage. "The living brain might be getting in the way."

"What is wrong with the brain?" asked Milled.

"It's someone else's brain," explained the mage. "I think it is keeping War mind from using the body."

"Why is the body not moving at the brains command?" asked Milled. "Did we not fix it's death?"

"I told you we didn't fix death," declared the mage sadly. "The mind is gone. The soul has crossed over. We might be able to scrape some memories from the brain, but its mind is gone. This brain can't hold War mind. We will have to replace it… get me a small pot."

"Okay," responded the pail rat.

The mage began to draw runes on a sheet of paper trying to figure out how to make an artificial brain. He looked at the body and began to think about what other things he needs to be truly immortal. Regeneration would be needed to keep the body working long term. The magic needed would be extraordinary.

First thing that needed to happen would be to figure out this false brain he looked at the paper in front of him and began the process of calculating runes. Part of the problem was figuring out what processes the brain needed to have to function. The Book of Blood Stones was consulted.

The project became much bigger than first thought and he decided that he would have to stuff the pot with an enormous number of runes. Albie sighed and began to calculate more detailed runes.

Milled returned with a small pot.

"Come here milled," ordered Albie. "I'll teach you how to write and calculate moon runes. They will help you cast a lot of powerful enchantments."
