Chapter 90 - The Demi-Dragons Rage

From its spot above the battlefield Twenty-Eight observed it prey. The horses and knights had been blown to carrion. Specifically, the demi dragon wanted to eat this Poof Poof creature. The rest of the flock was swooping down on the canon crews. They ripped off pieces of men before returning to the sky. Some would gang up on one man and take him screaming into the sky.

"For Pail Scourge!!" screamed a rat commander.

Twenty-Eight watched a line of the rat s scurry out of the woods and shoot a volley into the stunned ranks of men. A thicker line of spear carrying rats emerged from behind them and began to advance upon the humans. The moved quickly but in line. Blade puppets sprinted to meat the royal soldiers.

The dolls controlled by deprived minds eager for any sensation at all rushed past the colossus that had taken the lead. Twelve misshapen bodies sown together from mutilated corpses and scrap metal shocked the men. The puppets grabbing, crushing, and cutting with different numbers of hands and blades cut through the humans like vicious teeth.

The line began to panic as the colossus neared some humans began to run. The raptors appeared from the direction of their camp and began mauling the ones wo started running early. A small group of rat musketeers had dismounted. They began taking prisoners as they attempted to prevent the humans escape.

Near the camp Twenty-Eight spotted A man and holding a small creature. Another man had grabbed him by the shoulders and was shaking him. The demi dragon craned its neck and began a dive. Air rushed around the creatures' body as it closed in on its prey. For a moment the beast felt it's still heart beat. Its jaws opened talons at the ready.

The human doing the shaking turned to face the demi and raised his palm to the sky. The lizard smelled the change in the air before it saw the light. A stream of fire leapt from the mages palm at Twenty-Eight who rolled mid air to dodge the flames. It hissed at the man as it glided off and up again. It struck the tent with its tail in frustration snaping a beam collapsing the tent.

Twenty-Eight watched the now more confident man pass the dog off and began pointing and giving orders. The demi dragon truly wondered about chasing down the little dog. More vital and filling targets roamed the battlefield. But the would-be dragon had promised the Pail Scourge its death. The Scourge did not plan on living long and Milled would be the one to learn most of his magic.

"Bark!! Bark! Ararooow!" screeched the little dog at the great raven.

Its locked eyes with the demi dragon. Its audacity burning Twenty-Eights brain with rage. It would halve been eaten if not for the sun mage, yet it would dare to challenge the lord of the sky. The would-be dragon could not tolerate that.

Twenty-Eight dove after the aid carrying the squirming mut. The man dropped the dog and drew a sword as Twenty-Eight reached the pair. The Aid's sword stopped him from biting the little dog that continued to taunt the great beast. Claws slammed on the swordman slapping the mans sword hand of his wrist.

The human screamed as the stump began to blead. Twenty-Eight made ready to smash the annoying dog with its tail wen it felt two stings in both sides of its flank. The former raven turned its serpentine neck to look be hind it to see two men had stabbed it with halberds. The demi-dragon swept the men away with its tail as it looked back at the dog defying it with its life.

The great beast lifted a claw to smash the puny creature.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Twenty-Eight felt a musket ball slam into its raised claws shoulder. A team of musketeers had decided to charge the demi-dragon as the uppity little dog continued to challenge the would-be dragon's dominance.

"Enough!" roared the enraged Twenty-Eight. "You die now! you little pest!"

Twenty -Eight grabbed the dog in its jaws and bit down hard easily crushing the little ball of fur. Three stings entered the Sky kings' side as it saw the musketeers had stabbed it with their bayonets. The men were brushed off by the former ravens' wings as it took flight again annoyed how many humans seemed to get in the way of killing such a pathetic creature. The deed done Twenty-Eight took to the sky to re-observe the battle and find a more filling target.
