Chapter 82 - The Dragon is Born

Albie looked over his operating table. The misshapen raven on his table was stable. It had been his latest project since convincing Blunt to work with him. The raven or land bird had been the size of a horse and had lost the use of its wings then he had put it on the table.

It had been exposed to the unlife and the mage had decided to test some theories on how to better control the evil liquid. In the process he had reshaped it. More to compensate it for the beasts trouble he had worked to give it back its wings. Number 28 now had large batlike wings covered in scales as was the rest of her body. There was a need to test if she could manage to fly on her own or if the wings were just decorations. The thirty or so sun stones taken from lord brand were also used in the experiment.

Whatever they where now they were not sun stones. They could still produce fire, but they seemed to charge based on life force absorbed instead of sunlight. Albie thought it terribly fascinating how the liquid unlife could change something so fundamentally. Perhaps moonstones would suffer the same fate but it would be a waist to surrender moonstones to the unlife.

Number 28 woke up from its magic induced nap. It stretched its now long plated neck and spread its wings. She began to take eep breaths exited by the black flames exiting her mouth.

"No! No! NO!" scolded Albie. "You will not play with life leaching fire inside the building! Out number 28 Outside!"

The scaped bird struggled to squeeze through the lab door with the help of the mages pushing. The Doorframe was cracked and the door had been knocked of its hinges.

"Use the front door!" shouted the mage down the hallway. "If you break a window or a door, so help me I will find a way to turn you into a rat!"

With that project done for the time being the mage turned his focus to what was next. A new litter of rats had arrived, and it was time for them to grow. An orange coat was dragged in and drained as a sacrifice. The pile of rat pups grew in size until the room was filled with rats the size of large dogs. They began to scurry away. All were somewhat connected to him through their mothers except for one. Its eyes were red and its fur white. Or transparent to look white.

The creature tilted its head at him curiously. The Albinos staring at each other.
