One year earlier, Mr. Anderson moved to our neighbourhood, he was an unfashionable lanky person with short brown hairs not much to look at. Sometimes he was a very kind man and sometimes he was like a monster who doesn't like kids at all. Whenever, while playing football, our ball goes to Mr. Anderson's lawn and then he used to come out of his house with a knife on his right hand and pierce the ball from the middle with a wide evil smile on his face and warn us that if he find us again playing near his house all, he will pierce us too. Me and my friends were fourteen so we were a bit scared of him because of his evil personality.
After a month of Mr. Anderson's moving to our neighbourhood Mrs. Collin was reported missing to the police by Mr. Collin. He gave his statement that on the day, Mrs. Collin went missing she told him that she is going to the supermarket to buy goods for house but then she never came back.
And soon enough 8-9 names were reported missing from our neighbourhood to the nearest police station. The environment of our neighbourhood changed, people stopped getting out of their homes. They stopped interacting with each other, the only person who interacted with everyone was Mr. Anderson. We the kids were allowed to play only in the daytime, it made our childhood days boring.
One night my father bought me a new football and I was excited to play with it the next day with Eddy and Olivia.
The sun rose brightly the next day and through a narrow space of my window the sunlight beam fell on my face. I was ready to play with my football until mom calls me up. I called up Olivia and Eddy, had my regular breakfast of 2 sandwiches and a fried egg and I was all set to play.
We played for like 2 hours before my football went flying up high in the sky and fell on the lawn of Mr. Anderson. "Am I going to get my ball back?", "Should we apologize and get my ball back?", "Should we run back to our home?", many thoughts hit up my mind.
"Let's get it back", Eddy cried out.
"Are you crazy", Olivia yelled.
"Mr. Anderson is not home", Eddy replied.
We circled around Mr. Anderson's house. No sign of life. Nothing moved.
We sneaked in to Mr. Anderson's lawn.
"Look! the backdoor is open", said Eddy.
"Let's see what's in his house", I hesitated.
We entered Mr. Anderson's house through the back door of the kitchen which lead us to the living room.
"The basement door is open", Eddy whispered.
We decided to give a quick look into the basement. I went down first, followed by Olivia and Eddy. The basement smelled stale.
The basement had a door on the other end. We started to walk towards the door. This is when Olivia whispered that we should get out of there and we agreed with her. But while climbing up the basement we heard someone's footstep and hid behind the cupboard and this is how we ended up in the situation we are right now.
