"Caesar remember to show up at the family dinner tonight, I know you have work and everything but please show up. God, you're such a workaholic." His mother whines at him over the phone. "Of course I'll show up mother, when have I ever missed a family dinner?" He replied back rolling his eyes as he finished up on his paperwork. "Okay honey, see you at the restaurant, be there early remember." Replied his mother, "By the way what restaurant are we even going to? You never told me." It had been a week and a few days since his brother finally contacted the family and their mother couldn't have been more delighted.
"Oh, honey I'm sorry I totally forgot to inform you, it's a place your father's colleagues have been recommending him. It's a fancy restaurant called Floraison de l'amour." Caesar thought hard at the restaurant's name. He didn't recognize it and wondered how good it must have been to be able to have been recommended to his father. "Apparently the waiting list is so long that you'd have to book a registration a month or two before." Caesar's mother blabbered over the phone. "Well, anyway I'll let you get back to work honey, make sure to come or else." His mom said gently before hanging up the phone.
The restaurant would have to be exquisite to have gotten the attention of his father's associates and for them to be dining out there for a family dinner. "I hope they don't have terrible valet liked the last restaurant we went to." Caesar said as he finished the last pile of paperwork on his desk. "Benjamin, my office now it's urgent!" Caesar shouted on the intercom. Not even five minutes later his secretary come bursting through the door. "Yes sir, am I in trouble? Did I do something wrong? What can I do for you today? Do you need me to complete files or get you some coffee?" Caesar laughed slapping the back of his secretary. "Calm down Benjamin, you're not in any trouble nor do I need you to do anything for me, have everyone leave work early today. We're ahead of our work so why not have a break today?" Benjamin nodded and left his boss' office. Grabbing his tie Caesar walked out of his office, locking the door and then took the executive elevator down to the parking garage.
As he drove to his mansion he thought about whether or not he should bring his daughter and Sarah to the dinner. They were family to him and he would have hated to exclude them from their family activities. As he parked in his garage Caesar texted his mother asking her if he could bring Sarah and Mary to the dinner.
Oh yeah sure honey just make sure that you all get there on time, you know your father hates tardiness. I can't wait to see my beautiful granddaughter. Caesar smiled at his phone, his mother was always a kind person who understood all her children. Most parents would freak out if they found out that their child married a woman that their other child was going to marry.
Cool I'll pick them put on time and we'll be there in less than thirty minutes mother. Caesar texted back to his mother.
After texting his mother Caesar texted his partner Sarah.
Sarah, I know this is short notice but I wanted to invite you to a family dinner we are all having. Heads up Mason will be there.
Her reply was quick.Yeah sure, what is the attire? Formal or causal?
Caesar thought for a minute, they were only going out for dinner so the attire could be causal, there was no need for formal.
Uh just wear causal, also tell my baby that I bought her a new toy today and that I'll give it to her when I pick you guys up.
Caesar clicked off his phone's ringer and looked at his computer sitting on the coffee table. Mary had left it open and on instead of turning it off after watching her cartoons. He chuckled to himself and walked up to his room. Caesar felt blessed to have had a daughter that acted just like him. It was like looking into a mirror for him, and he never complained. Caesar took a quick shower and walked to his walk in closet picking out a white button down shirt and a dress pants paired with black shoes. His shirt was unbutton at the top, exposing his chest.
When he was content with his looks, he grabbed phone and keys walking out his house and drove to pick up his partner and daughter.
As he got out of his car and walked to Sarah's driveway he signed picking up his daughter. "Why must you insist on living in another house Sarah?" The woman looked at him and smiled but it was obvious it wasn't a genuine smile. "Because I'm not your real wife, this is all for Mary. If not for her then you wouldn't have married me, and I ruined my chances with the only man that would have married me for me." Caesar stood there silent. He knew he couldn't have said anything because what she said was true; he did marry her for Mary and they equally both ruined their relationship with Mason. It was the cold truth and the two didn't like it. "Everybody makes mistakes, it's not only your fault it's mine as well. I should have never seduced you because I was heartbroken." Caesar admitted with a sigh. "Either way it happened and we can't change it, in the end we have a beautiful daughter together that we need to protect." Sarah replied back to her partner as she strapped her daughter in her car seat.
They drove to the address that Caesars mother gave him and parked out front. A man in a black tuxedo came towards them as Caesar got out the car. He tossed his keys to the valet and unbuckled his daughter from her car seat. "Don't scratch it," he warned as he walked to the front door. So far it looks elegant, Caesar thought to himself as a man in a black suit gestured for him to follow him. "May I take your name and registration?" A woman behind a host stand said. "Caesar Michael but the registration is under William Michael, my father." He replied, his voice intimidating the small woman in front of him. "Oh yes Mr. Michael, right this way sir."
Everyone was already there seated as Caesar made his way over to there table. "Sorry we're late mother." Caesar apologize. "Oh honey you're just in time, we got here a few minutes before you did," his mother replied reassuring her child that he wasn't in any trouble. "Supposedly this restaurant provides live band and orchestra, isn't that amazing honey?" Brenda asked her husband. "Oh yes and apparently we'll have the luxury of seeing a performance today." William answered back. A waiter came up to them and asked for all of their order. After a while he told them that their food would be ready in a few minutes and disappeared into the back of the restaurant.
"Oh look honey they're setting up the chair on stage, I think the performance is about to start." Their mother clapped excitedly as every customer turned forward to the stage. Caesar looked at the waiter who was pouring them wine. "I'd like a little more wine please." He asked the waiter.
The man nodded and poured the wine into the glass then left. "Hello everyone, I hope you all are having a magnificent time. I'm the owner of this restaurant and today I'll be preforming for you all." The lights dimmed down and a spot light led to the stage. Caesar turned around facing the stage, his eyes adjusted to the lighting and then everything froze. There she was, Milani kekoa his first love sitting a few feet away from him. He was probably too shocked to realize that his drink didn't go down the right pipe. He started choking in disbelief before finally regaining his control. "Isn't that Milani?" Brittany asked in clear shock. "Y-yeah," Caesar stuttered looking at his ex-wife's beautiful face. "Who are those kids behind her?"
Caesar quickly snapped his head to the direction of the children, he hadn't even noticed they were there dancing until Brittany pointed it out. Caesar watching as his first love sang a song so beautifully. Ever since they were teenagers he would encourage her to sing and knowing that she was made him feel warm inside. When she was done singing everybody stood up and clapped, Milani and the two mysterious children bowed then left the stage. "Excuse me," Caesar said to his family as he walked to the back, heading towards his ex-wife.
Mesmerized, Caesar pushes pass the curtains then took a step forward. He watched as his wife kneeled in front of the two children that were with her on the stage. He hadn't gotten a clear look at the kids and wondered who they were for. Finally, he got the courage and took one more step towards his first love.
"Milani?" For a second she froze but then got up and turned around. "Caesar." A few seconds after Milani turned around Mason came up behind Caesar. He walked over to Milani and took Romeo and Alana in his arms. "I'll go bring them to the staff room and let you talk to him if you don't feel comfortable with him around the kids." Milani nodded and Mason walked away with her two babies. "What are you doing here?" Caesar asked still in disbelief. "Um I own this restaurant." She responded as she nervously moved a step away from him. He was about to say something but was interrupted by Milani. "Sorry but I have to get going, it was nice seeing you again." She blurted out, practically running into the staff room. "What just happened," Caesar sighed walking back to his family's table, his heart broke at the Look Milani gave him. He could feel his heart self destruct.
"I think it's time we leave," Brittany said breaking the silence from their table. Everyone at the table nodded and paid for the dinner then left, their minds on how Milani was doing and what she still felt about them.
