My eyes slowly cracked open as I looked blankly at an unfamiliar ceiling. I immediately jolted awake and looked around, a needle was sticking from my arm. The room was obviously a bedroom. Dark blue walls accompanied by white furniture and white drapes that I could only assume covered two rather large windows on either side of the humongous room. The little girl and Eclipse were nowhere to be seen. I looked down at the needle projecting from my arm, swiftly yanking the saline needle out of my arm.
I swung my legs out to the side of the bed and shakily stood to my feet. I felt as if my heart had been ripped from my chest. The sound of two people frustratedly talking outside the door was the only sound that I could hear other than birds in the distance.
I looked to the window coverings and then to the door. I could jump, then run for cover, change my appearance and come back in to save Eclipse and the girl.
I grabbed two handfuls of hair and frustratedly paced. Finally lashing out at the tall bedposts in frustration, I had no idea what to do. In times like this where I only had two head options, I would turn to Carter for help deciding. But now? Carter's more than likely dead, the door infront of me has voices on the other side and they don't seem happy, and I have two people to save if they're not already dead.
"Hena?" Eclipse's voice sounded from the other side of the door. His voice echoed through my head. Overwhelming happiness started to overflow my senses. He was alive. Alive and asking for me.
Before I could answer, the door swung open. The Alpha rushed in, grabbing my wrists and running his thumbs over my bloodied knuckles. My eyes widened as he held my wrists just tight enough to keep me there but not tight enough to hurt me. I could kill him this second, with just a flicker of my eyes and I could burn him, I could turn his skin to liquid the way they did with me, with Eclipse.
Eclipse.
I looked passed the Alpha to see Eclipse nowhere to be seen. I must've alerted the Alpha with my sudden realization because he started talking, "Hena, Eclipse is okay, he was worried about you and got into a scuffle with the guard outside your door. Everyone has been ordered not to attack superhumans no matter what until further notice."
I looked into his eyes. They weren't dark like I thought before, they're a sky blue color, the exact opposite of what I thought they were. I stared the Alpha in the eyes with unforgiving ones. My eyes showed pure anger towards this person who was trying to act like he cared for my wellbeing. Hena or not, nobody should have their families hunted and murdered just for being a certain species.
I ripped my wrists from his grip and took a step back, causing the backs of my legs to push up against the bed.
He looked down at his feet, seemingly upset over my actions. I didn't care. I wanted to go home. I wanted to know where Carter and the rest of the missing people were. Sure enough I'd find out.
He softly grabbed my hand and pulled me closer to him. He tilted my head and started running his thumb over a scratch I had on my jawbone from falling into the thickets. My entire body tried to tense from this stranger being too close. Not only that but the fact he thought grabbing me to get me closer to him was a good idea. Something didn't seem right in the head. He knew who I was, how many people I've killed, and yet was still three inches from my face.
"Hena, I don't mean to alarm you," he said soothingly as he continued to examine the cuts and scrapes that littered my body.
My body tensed more. I was extremely uncomfortable with this stranger being in my personal bubble.
He took a step back after what felt like forever and ducked his head down in a bow.
"Hena I have some upsetting news to tell you, but first, I'd like to invite you to eat lunch with the Alphas," The alpha told me as he raised his head and smiled.
I looked at the windows and then back at him, contemplating what the heck was going on. After thinking over every possible outcome I decided I was hungry and wanted food.
I shook my head like I was saying no, "Yeah sure."
His frown turned back into a smile and he gestured for me to follow, "Follow me to the cafeteria Hena."
I followed him out of the door, making a left down the hallway which opened up to a large staircase.
We walked down the staircase and then made another left down a high ceiling hallway. We finally made a right through a large doorway. Upon opening the door I walked into a large room, glass chandeliers hung from the ceiling, the walls were painted a gorgeous dark forest green color which made the stainless steel appliances in the attached kitchen pop with color. I didn't realize I had stopped at the doorway to gawk at the gorgeous room I had stepped into. I brought my attention down to the circular table in the center of the room. There were a bunch of rectangular tables in the room but that was the only circular table.
Four men were infront of the table kneeling. Four became five when the Alpha who escorted me kneeled.
I rolled my eyes and took a seat at one of the chairs. The Cachions followed my lead and sat down in their seats as well. Nobody sat in the chairs directly next to me.
"Where's Eclipse?" I asked as I picked up my fork and began to roll this unfamiliar food around the plate it sat on.
"In his room throwing a fit," one of the Alphas, a blonde one who looked slightly like Tobias had explained. The Alpha looked directly at me, not quite my eyes but not quite anything else.
I nodded and looked at the Alpha who brought me in, "I want Eclipse in here now."
He nodded and then left.
"How's Tobias?" The blonde Alpha asked quietly.
My head shot directly at him, studying his facial features to figure out what he was feeling. Remorse, maybe worriedness, mostly nervousness though.
"He's lucky I didn't rip his esophagus out," I sighed to the blonde, "I'm guessing you're his brother."
The blonde nodded.
I rolled my eyes. "Of course you are," I mumbled under my breath as I continued to roll a weird looking round vegetable around my plate.
"What's the matter Hena? Do you not like the food?" A tall alpha with longish brown hair asked. This Alpha had scars all over his face and seemed like more of a warrior then the others. Some scars seemed newer than others and one was definitely within the last few days. Four, long, deep cuts streaked across his left ear to his lips; as if an animal had smacked him claws out.
The dark haired alpha who I met in the woods came back in, Eclipse wasn't with him. My blood pressure rose as I worried for Eclipse. Eclipse had been left alone, they could've killed him.
An uneasy feeling struck me like a freight train and my head shot directly at a specific Alpha. The longer brown haired Alpha was completely tensed up. My glaring stare knocked him out of focus and he looked at me: terrified.
"Eclipse wishes to stay in him room because he doesn't trust himself," the Alpha said as he took a seat once more.
My focus never broke the long brown haired Alpha. Something about this Alpha offset me; like he had a guilty conscience.
"Speak," I ordered him.
His body tightened more as his worried eyes looked into mine.
"Hello Hena," he mumbled out shakily.
"Did I kill someone you care about? Why are you so scared of me?" I asked.
"May I leave?" The alpha asked shakily once more.
"After you tell me why you're scared," I answered.
The Alpha bolted out of the room and out of sight.
I looked confusedly at the other Alphas who seemed irritated by the one Alpha's actions.
"Do any of you know why he's acting like that?" I asked.
All the Alphas remained silent and started eating.
My fist made it's way onto the table in a quick angry motion. Everyone's heads shot up as they looked to see I had driven my fist through the table.
"Excuse me," I growled, "Why is he afraid of me?"
Everyone looked at me in shock. Probably because someone who's a little taller than five feet had just punched a hole in the wall, or maybe it was because of my temper. I guess Henas are of peaceful folk.
"Hena please sit, we have a lot to discuss about your friends in the forest," the black haired Alpha stated.
I stayed standing.
"Where are they?"
"I'm sorry Hena."
