Chapter 10 - : Rightful Vengeance 2

The halls were forming a fog that made it hard to see. There was a smell of something burning. The death throes of the students who were suffering the justice of a saddened wolf-kin. Was it really necessary for all of the students to die? I don't know. Arnou is controlled by vengeance and those who support the war against the current Axis of Mankind might have wanted this war.

I had to sneak out of the hallways and up into the commotion. The stairs were feasible and I had to go into a different route. I had opened up a window and scaled the side of the walls. Had to dodge the debris and doing so my hand was failing me. I had to use my right leg to catch a window's ledge. I pulled myself up. The corpses of the students were strewn across the classroom. Their faces smashed against the concrete floor. The smell overwhelmed me for a moment. My eyes felt like it dilated and vision narrowed. Could still remember the village that I used to live back in my old world. Loved freedom so much. Died for it.

There was someone outside the door. I carefully sneaked up to the door and readied my revolver. I had to wait for the right time, and then I push the door open. The wolf-kin was stun for a second and that was all I needed to aim my revolver at him and take out his head.

I didn't notice a wolf-kind rushing behind my back. I had turned around to meet with the enemy. I took the shot. The enemy used the wall to dodge. Their superhuman reflexes were always a danger. I had been lucky so far. I only had one bullet left. I tried to shoot again. The six-shooter that I held was bent so easily. I took five steps back. I pulled my 9mm and was able to hinder the wolf-kin from ripping me apart. Silver bullets have strange effects on the wolf-kin folks. I didn't stay there to get ripped apart. I made a beeline to the next hallway while dodging the debris that fell with the explosion. The wolf-kin was disturbed by the 9mm that he had to rush in without thinking. The falling debris played a part in why I was able to escape. The wolf-kind had tough fur and he wasn't going to let me go. He demonstrated his abilities and was able to catch up to me. I had stamina but he had pure agility.

The wolf-kin caught up and clawed my back. I felt blood dripping from my back. It was either I writhe in pain or run. I choose to sprint while gritting my teeth to endure the pain. The wolf-kin thought that I was on my last throes. I didn't want to fight a wolf-kin but I was not going to get myself killed. I was ready for this event. I took out the silver dagger that I hid under my sleeve. The wolf-kin saw the silver-edges of the dagger and retreated a step back. He had to aim for my head and he put his back on it. I delivered a deathblow right at his heart. I twisted the silver dagger and tore his throat just to make sure. That action, however, did not bid me well. If I had just sprinted away then maybe I wouldn't be seen by his pack brothers. The image of me slitting the throat of their pack-brother was burned in their eyes, they wanted me dead for that.

Two versus one wasn't going to cut it. I had no choice but try and escape. That didn't work well as I expected. The first wolf-kin held me from the shoulder and smashed me hard on the wall. The second one broke a rib and pulled my right arm that I felt it was dislocated. I was able to roll away from a dangerous strike that would have skewered my head. I was able to sprint away but the wolf-kin was too fast. I had been battered and my body was telling me to give up. My friend, Daren, should be still up that staircase. I had my silver dagger and the only thing I needed to do was a gamble. There was a way up but the scaling it means that I had to make sure I was. To save my friend, I didn't think that much. I dived out of the window and caught a pipe. I started scaling while making sure that the wolf-kind was still trying to rip apart the window. The pipe was falling apart due to the explosion and my weight. Daren should be around that place if he didn't meet any wolf-kind. If I didn't fall then I would have escorted him out of the school without worry. The police should be coming but that doesn't alleviate my worries.

It finally came to a leap of faith. If I don't leap to another worn-looking pipe. I would surely fall and break some bones. I'm not going to die but it will take me weeks. And so I took the leap faith hoping to reach the edge of that window. But my fingers missed a breath away. Time seems to slow down as I look at the distancing edge that I missed. I thought that I might make it. It was a gamble that I wanted to win. To save a friend I was willing to take a leap of faith despite the three-storied building and gravity blocking my path.

What was I thinking? Jumping like some damn hero, knowing that my path was all blocked by wolves that I barely could fend off. And so when time moved forward I found myself falling from that building. Explosions rang out and the siren noises were too loud for me. I despaired. I wanted to shout and hoped that I had some power to make it back there.

I was not given that. I laid on that patch of grass with my body broken and unable to move. I wasn't knocked out. I stayed for hours hearing the screams of the students and I was left to hear their scream until the authorities saved me.
