"Take a seat sir" Gilbert says pointing to the chair that was in my room
I hesitate a little but sit in the chair, I somewhat feel like it's gonna be like a movie and he is gonna show me slides.
"Pulling up hunter history file" he says as the room starts to shake and slowly disappear, turning into a white room.
"Opening limited hunter history" says a random female voice
"Override access code "bow sliver"" he then says
"Access granted to full hunter history" says the female voice
the room shifts again to a dark room pitch black is all I see then the female voice starts to talk.
"Throughout history man has always fought among themselves for country, power and resources. This vicious cycle went on for years but then a new opponent arrived and we were ill prepared for it. They appeared almost out of thin air but one day a strange new creature came to be it was aggressive and strong they were quadrupedal, hairy, no bigger than a cheetah. At first we thought they posed no threat but we were wrong later they proved to be the Apex predators. We killed a few and scientist tried to analyze what they were and how to combat them. They started to evolve getting bigger changing, adapting, some came in different forms. It wasn't long before they became a problem a war started due to this and we were losing. The military and the world were dying to these creatures and nothing could save us. Until a scientist by the name of Robert Alistair found the gene that would let the creatures adapt and evolve and he believed putting it into humans can turn the tide. Due to the endangerment of humanity the government agreed to advance to human testing and twenty thousand volunteers came for the test. First they went through a physical test about seven hundred and eighty-two dropped out after three months of vigorous training. Due to the risk of the injection there was a contract that needed to be signed but only eight thousand signed. after that the injections were administrated a period of 24-hours quarantine became a mandatory thing. withing the first four hour nine hundred started to show signs of mutation and were quickly executed after some started to lose their minds causing suicidal tendencies and were successful executed and another two hundred died. After the 24th hour about three hundred soldier increased their muscle size and brain function.
After initial testing they were released, within the first hour they proved effective but not long after that some of the hunters started to turn becoming half beast half man but losing all memories of their human side. The ones whom didn't turn had to fight the turned hunters, after the war that would later be called "world war beast" the first gen hunters went back to the lab and were analyzed to prevent future death and future betrayal. Soon enough the second gens were started on if they could make the injection more acceptable but it seems you had to have the right blood typethat could accept it. The success rate was higher but some of the hunters still turned after a few battles. When the third gen was created the world made a treaty to pull together to protect the world from these creatures which would soon be put into categories ranging from 1 to 20 and from water bound, air bound, land bound and even multiple bound. Scientist never stopped trying to improve this gene but had only recently came so far the 7th gene. On record there is only one 7th gene and has shown great success.
"Are there any questions" the female voice says
" Yes, do hunters have ranks like the categories?" I ask
" Yes their ranks classify what kind of category they can handle" she answers
"Are they feared or hated" I ask
"At the beginning yes due to the turn ratio and the sheer power of them, people lost spouses, children were scared to stay with parents and because some kids were able to accept the gene other children were afraid of them some were picked on and couldn't handle the internal rage." she says
"Has that changed?" I ask
"Yes" she replies
"In what way has that changed?" I ask
"After gen 2 their was an age restriction on accepting the gene, During the third gen a failsafe was installed and carried over to the fourth gen. The failsafe was a collar with a deadly poison that would injected them if they turned. It was soon disbanded after the gen four started to show a 98% increase of being stable compared to 72% of the third gen." she says
"What are the advantages of the sixth gen since that seems to be the normal now" I ask trying to figure out what more can change
"They are stronger more agile and smarter. They have developed an instinct something the other but seven haven't shown. They can track down any category that has managed to escape. The gen seven is the most advance they use basic knowledge to have an advantage against categories even ones higher than he should. His brute force is very effective but he only uses it against low categories and to high categories he uses more complex methods. Almost as if he uses 100% of his brain power." she says
"last question who is this gen seven" I ask
"Data is not logged, unknown" she says
The room is quickly brought back into existence, Gilbert looks as shocked as I do even for an AI hologram.
"I guess that's all the answers I'm gonna get for now." I say quietly.
"Well look at the time sir it's about time you go enjoy your time off" Gilbert says
"I'm not sure that I know where to go" I say
"Let me mark your map with fun places to go" he says
I had almost forgot about the heads up display, next thing I know a map pops up and a few locations are pinged.
"Thanks Gilbert" I say
"No problem sir" he says before he disappears.
This is the first time I see out of my room, I walk out into a living room from what I can see I live alone or I just don't have any roommate or family living with me. I wanted to check the other rooms but decide it was best not to so I head to what looks like the front door. I look out and I see a regular looking yard with a tree and leaves on the ground. Before I can open the door Gilbert pops up on my phone
"Sir you should always take a weapon with you before you leave, look down to your right" he says calmly
I look down and saw a gun and a short sword there was also a belt with two sheaths for both weapons. I clip on the belt and place the weapons in the holsters. I still wasn't sure if this was a dream or if it was real but I guess I might as well enjoy the different reality before I wake up.
