Chapter 65 - Baby girl

Lexi dragged Ethan by his arm up to the elevator lift. She roughly let his arm go, as she pressed the ground floor button.

"Don't you know you just recovered? Why drink so much and abuse your liver?" After some time, Lexi broke the awkward silence enveloping the whole lift as neither of them talked.

Ethan leaned his back on the side as he tilted his head back and closed his eyes. He shoved his hand inside his pocket while his other one rest on the handrail hang around the elevator lift.

Unlike his playful persona earlier, for some reason, his earlier lively aura slowly dissipated as he rested his body on the corner of the closed lift. The time seemed to slow down its pace as Lexi could hear the ticking sound of her lightweight wristwatch.

"I was bored… when you left." At last, Ethan finally broke the awkward silence that surrounded them as he explained the main petty reason why he went to a fail party.

"Uh, right…" Lexi mumbled. She should have guessed that Ethan would be back to his usual self the moment he got his freedom from the doctor's surveillance. Alas, she was already frustrated enough to Morris and doesn't have a tiny bit of energy to worry about Ethan's issue. After all, he was already like that in her perspective and he's old enough to take care of himself.

"He missed you chu~" Churu had her flexible arms waved as she poked at Lexi's slim cheeks. Alas, Lexi chose to ignore the irrelevant comment of the cute dumpling.

Once again, only their faint breathing was heard as both delved into their own thoughts. Lexi glanced at the digital number above indicating what floor they were at. For some reason, she felt that her travel time to the ground floor was much slower than when she was on the way to Morris Liu's office.

"Do you still like him?"

Out of the blue, Ethan asked which made her slightly flinch as she was getting used to the silence. Lexi didn't turned her head to Ethan for some reason as she pondered on the appropriate response to him.

"You're so careless you know. Why would you go to a man's place in the middle of the night?" He added sensing that she won't respond. Ethan didn't moved from his position as he tries to sober himself up. Part of him was slightly disappointed but well, he got the whole gist of what happened.

He might be a little drunk but not to the extent of being unconscious on his action. Earlier, he heard Lexi's indistinct voice which made him check what's going on.

He wasn't dumb enough to misunderstand the whole situation and also, he doesn't have the right to misunderstand right? Still, he was genuinely worried about this stupidity of Lexi.

Does she trust Morris Liu that much? Or she was willing to reconcile with him? It bugged him not to the core; it could even sober him up just thinking about it.

"I would be lying if I said I don't… but, I don't want to dwell on my lingering feelings anymore. I just wanted to move on. And yes, I trusted him that much, don't you as well?" Since she doesn't want any conflict on her main initial task, Lexi clarified. It's a good thing that Ethan opened it up much earlier or else, this might lead to a misunderstanding in the future.

"Mister Initial Task, gimme those points chu" Churu flew on Ethan's relaxed shoulder and whispered her main agenda.

Just then, the ting sound of the establishment lift resounded before it opened. This time, it was led directly on the company parking space.

"Let's go." Lexi muttered as she began taking stride outside the elevator. Alas, she stopped when she exited the lift and turned her head back on Ethan's unmoving figure.

Arching her fleeky brows, she was puzzled on what's going on inside his mind. However, Lexi was not up for any guessing game as she hastily strode towards him and halted her hand in between the closing elevator doors which made it opened again.

"I don't need a ride -- take care on your way home." As unenthusiastic as he sounded, Ethan informed with his eyes closed and whole body leaning on the corner.

"Who said I'm going home?"

Hearing this statement, Ethan's brows creased as his long lashes slowly fluttered open. Looking at the usual proud front of the woman before his eyes, the side of his lips curled into a smirk.

"Oh? Where you dragging me then?" Though his face was still slightly red, his eyes drowsy and his hair a little messy -- Ethan for some had a gentle gaze circling within his dark brown eyes.

"Didn't you claimed you're my friend? Well, I needed one." Lexi uttered in a matter of factly tone as she raised her brows.

Ethan chuckled as he doesn't find himself refusing her 'call a friend' -- or rather, the word 'no' seemed it was obliterated in his vocabulary in an instant.

"Alright, baby girl." He raised both his hands in defeat with a subtle smile.
