Lexi assisted Ethan as per her parents request. She kept her silence on the way to his room. Since it was the Yang residence, and Ethan was still 'injured', Lexi entered the guest room even without Ethan's invitation.
Ethan on the other hand smiled warmly and left the door wide open. Even though the guest room was rarely visited by the maids aside when it was being cleaned, Ethan still wanted her name to be clean and clear; that both of them doesn't have that kind of malicious relationship.
For some unknown reason, Ethan was much more sensitive and he thought of things that may cause her trouble due to him in the future.
He doesn't know why; he was uncertain in many things, it's as if even before he could contemplate his words, they were already blurted out. Even so, it was clear to him that he really wanted to support her whatever her heart desires.
"Hehe, already forgot when was the last time I enjoyed my breakfast." Ethan blurted out as he prepared a few medicine that was prescribed to him. A subtle and sincere smile could be seen on the side of his lips which made him more dashing as ever.
Lexi who could see his side profile, she heavily sigh as if she came to a decision. Slightly bowing her head in respect towards Ethan Lu, she spoke in gratification.
"Director Lu, thank you!" Though Lexi could not believe the fact how Ethan bewitched her parents, alas, she knew he meant no harm. Furthermore, Lexi appreciated him more for being sensible enough not telling her parents what really happened to them last night.
"Ethan." Ethan corrected with a smile while his other palm was laid out and few medicine in it. He added,
"I get that you don't want to worry them but, don't you think they should also know?"
Lexi pursed her lips before she sat on the sofa. Crossing her legs out of habit, looking elegant and all without even trying, Lexi sighed.
"When I was 5 years old, I was kidnapped." Though Lexi mustered all the courage she could gather, alas, just thinking about her that incident still make her whole being tremble.
"So, if they knew about what happened last night, I'm sure it will only refreshed that incident from the past. I don't want that to happen since it's settled now, letting them know would be unnecessary." Lexi forced a smile and tried to cheer up but failed miserably.
Indeed, after that incident, Lexi took years to recover from that trauma with the help of her parents and the young Morris Liu who became her light in the darkest days of her childhood.
Silence enveloped the four corners of the room as neither of them talked. Churu on the other hand just patted Lexi's shoulder as if saying it was okay which slightly eased Lexi's tensed shoulders.
"But, that's all in the past. What's important is that I'm safe and sound now." After some time, Lexi broke the silence and attempted to lighten up the mood once again.
"I see… now, that explains why you're head over heels to him." Ethan responded alas, the latter part came out as a murmur which Lexi didn't hear clearly.
"What, Ethan?" Lexi's brows raised in inquiry, however, since she somewhat considered Ethan as a so-so friend, she called him by his first name.
"Nothing... Lexi." Ethan grinned, thankful that she gave him an opening for his subconscious thoughts so he could divert their attention on his usual teasing.
'Jeez, what's up with me, the heck?' He thought inwardly. Ever since he was tangled up with her, he found himself getting more and more weird. However, it's not that he likes it but he doesn't hate it either. In his mind, he convinced himself that Lexi's true nature and her situation -- he could somehow relate. Thus, it was the reason of his urge to be there for her whenever she needed a friend and protect her as her big brother.
On the other hand, Lexi oath to prolong her patience as she only shook her head hearing him call her first name. Though part of her was quite awkward having his first guy friend, alas, it was just her adjusting.
Since Ethan was still 'unwell', Lexi accompanied him despite having a nurse on standby to check his health status. Truly, the Yang parents gave the best treatment they could on their daughter's only friend.
"By the way, is it really fine staying here without telling anyone?" Lexi asked. To her, it's just too baffling why Ethan seemed he was happier when her parents asked him to stay in their residence until he fully recovered.
Knowing her parents, Lexi readied herself as she was well-versed on their stubbornness. She could foresee that even if Ethan recovered, they still insist him to stay for another week as they were that kind of a worrywart. Just thinking about it, Lexi felt she was about to have a headache.
"That's fine, no one cares." Ethan apathetically responded as if the matter doesn't bore anything to him. Yet, there's neither sadness nor bitterness could be seen on him as if he already accepted that fact.
Churu who was lying beside Ethan on the bed rolled to see Ethan's eyes and then shifted her gaze on Lexi. Seeing that the both of them was starting to open up and accept this 'friendship' albeit slowly, Churu was satisfied to see hope for her host.
'Aiya~ why are these two so difficult?' Churu thought inwardly as she began another another grand plan for them to get a 'little' more closer.
