"Lexi Yang, we will discuss this later!" Mother Yang humped before going after her husband which left Lexi's brows twitching. Did they just assume she hurt him? Thinking of how little trust her parents gave her, Lexi wasn't the one to complain.
After all, a person won't change in an instant. Moreover, the bad reputation she built up in recent years must be the cost why her parents assumed that she hurt another person -- whether intentional or not, she knew they only wanted for her to keep out of trouble.
"Well, I can explain tomorrow…" Lexi mumbled as she turned her head to see Ethan's peacefully sleeping. Glancing at the IV Drip, Lexi pursed her lips and drag the chair to sit beside him.
Actually, she was surprised to hear that Ethan was already having a mild fever throughout the night alas, he wasn't saying or complaining about anything as if he was normal. Moreover, it was never shown that he was feeling unwell -- as he still had the energy to tease her.
'He looked harmless when asleep.' She complimented inwardly. Since it was late at night, Lexi was in charge to take care of Ethan since the nurse who was supposed to take care of him had an emergency hence, she could not make it.
Fortunately, Lexi a thing or two to watch over him since she also did something like this before to Morris Liu. Alas, of course, it was never been appreciated.
Hours had passed and sleep seemed unwilling to arrive yet. Scrolling on her phone, Lexi was appalled to see the current news on the chaos taking place near the hotel they came from. Indeed, the man named Tito told them if ever a gunfight would take place, they might get caught up in the crossfire. Fortunately, they decided to leave the place much earlier.
Reading a few articles regarding the shocking news, she found several casualties but there wasn't any information about who were the people behind it. Now that she thought about it, Lexi concluded a few things based on the words Tito and Churu spatted earlier.
First, since the shadow brigade that captured and claimed that they meant no harm since she and Ethan were the guest of the host, does that mean they have a connection with the new chairwoman of the Yue International Enterprise? Also, if her conclusion were right, does that mean Wren Tanaka knew it as well since he had a good relationship with Seraphina Yue?
Second, the words 'the scent of sweet chaos' Churu blurted out earlier left hundreds of question mark on her head. Why would Churu seemed extra excited knowing there would be chaos that would take place?
Just thinking of more things could make her head ache. Moreover, where's Churu when she needed her? Why would she always appears and disappears without short notice? Lexi heavily sighed having these speculations on her mind. She knew too much that she shouldn't…
Alas, is this why her father doesn't want to be entangled with the Yue family? Now that she was reminded of her father's reluctance, it only confirmed her conclusion.
"Hmm," Ethan softly groaned before he slowly opened his eyes. The moment he opened his eyes, the first figure that was caught in the corner of his eyes were Lexi who was lost in her own thoughts.
Seeing that she returned to her serious, unapproachable countenance, Ethan meekly smirked. "Penny for your thoughts?" His voice was hoarse and faint but it only sounded magnetic that instantly snapped Lexi from her thoughts.
"Oh, what are you feeling? Water?" Lexi instantly inquired and without waiting for his reply, she hastily stood from her seat and fetch a glass of water. Placing the glass of water on the bedside table, she wordlessly supported Ethan who was assisting himself to sit then leaned on the headboard.
Ethan observed how fast Lexi had a change of persona. From cold to lukewarm, now a little bit caring. Indeed, she always surprised him with her personality which made her a little interesting.
"Water, drink it." Lexi inexpressibly commanded after offering the glass of water. Observing her unobvious expectant pair of eyes, Ethan wanted to tease her a little but recalling that they just somewhat made up, he decided to let it go and meekly smiled before reaching out for the glass of water.
"Thank you…" Ethan sipped as he scanned his surroundings. Alas, seeing the unfamiliar place, he almost choked which made him let out a series of coughs. Of course, Lexi reluctantly patted his back with her brows knitted together.
"Uh, where are we, again?" Ethan inquired with the back of his fist that was covering his mouth.
"Our -- My parent's house." Lexi corrected herself not letting Ethan for any opening to use her words against her.
Ethan blinked numerous times to her as he processed her words. Recalling their situation earlier, he indeed walked her up to their residence, doorstep but after that, his mind went blank. If he was there, does that mean he met her parents under such situation? For some reason, Ethan felt troubled yet, on the surface, he was blankly looking back at Lexi.
"Uh, hello? You still there?" Lexi awkwardly waved her hand in front of him as he seemed his mind wanders off somewhere.
