Qingchen thought about his answer carefully. "Both of us decided on it together. If she was alone in wanting it, I wouldn't have minded and gone along with her, but I want it too. "Therefore you didn't invite your dad?" she asked.
Qingchen smiled. "Wasn't it him that said he was too busy?" he retorted.
"You know how your dad is. He knew you wouldn't invite him to begin with. Why didn't you?"
Qingchen shrugged. "You already know the answer. I don't like him." He looked at his mother, knowing that she was about to say something. "Please don't try to be the mediator. Mo Zichen is happiest when he doesn't need to be around people he thinks are beneath him." He looked at her sharply. "Which is just about everyone on the planet."
