Chapter 8 - Zero

Kai's eyes narrowed as he swept his gaze over all the people that were waiting for the passengers to come out.

Which one was this … Zero?

He had never heard that sort of joy in her voice when she was talking to him. He completely ignored the fact that she had no reason to be joyful with her interactions with him since she was basically helping him out reluctantly.

There didn't seem to be anyone there that actually responded to Lianne's call. Or did he miss it?

He studied the crowd again, focusing on the men in the group. He dismissed the children and the ones who were obviously too old … wait …

Did she perhaps like older men?!

Kai shook his head, focusing.

There really wasn't anyone that appeared to be looking out in excitement or answering Lianne's earlier call. You know, no one is waving or even looking at her intently.

Fortunately as well, there wasn't anyone striking looking in the crowd. Kai could confidently say that he was the best looking of the lot. Well, except for that one guy.

He was just leaning on the barrier nonchalantly, looking in their direction but seemingly not seeing anything.

It was as if he was still waiting.

That the person he was waiting for, had not come out yet.

It wasn't just the fact that he was rather striking looking with his silver hair that he carried so well, but that rather pretty face (not as beautiful as him, though) was coupled with such a 'manly' vibe?

He didn't appear sociable but you could see how, just by not doing anything, he was attracting so many gazes.

Kai was relieved to note that he wasn't the one waiting for Lianne.

He would just die….

Wait.

Why was she walking towards him?

No, maybe that's just to his general direction?

Kai paused, his steps slowing down.

He observed the guy's face intently but the guy didn't look like he was focusing on Lianne.

In fact, he was looking behind Lianne … to … him?

Kai instinctively looked back and saw that some girls were blushing and when their eyes met, the girls blushed more.

Obviously, those girls weren't the ones that the guy was looking at but they were naturally shy while thinking that such a good looking guy was looking at them.

Kai looked around quickly and noted that there wasn't anyone that seemed to be the one the guy was waiting for.

Kai turned back to face in front.

Only to see that Lianne had stopped right in front of the guy.

No.

Kai screamed internally that it was not what he thought.

It could not be.

Then, to his absolute horror, he saw the guy smile, finally looking at Lianne with a gentle look. He brought his hands up and cupped her face, bringing it closer to his.

Kai gripped the handle of the trolley (that had his bags on) so hard that his knuckles were white. As he stared at them, the guy's eyes opened up and stared at him.

They had a staring contest for a minute before the guy broke away from Lianne.

He kissed Lianne's forehead and Kai could see her smiling as she turned to walk to the exit. The guy also left the barrier and headed to that same opening.

Damn.

While hardly moving her lips, Lianne asked Zero when he came over.

"Is he still there?"

"Yes," Zero answered, bending down to pick up her luggage.

"How does he look?"

"Pissed," Zero replied, taking her hand in his other hand.

"Well, d-uh. But does he look like … you know, devastated so he gives up or upset and will continue?" Lianne pressed on.

Zero shrugged, saying, "Trouble."

"Seriously?" Lianne sighed.

Zero turned to look at her, noting that while she seemed upset, it was not 'hell-he-is-annoying' sort of upset but more of the 'why-is-he-like-this' sort of upset.

Zero turned to look at Kai, who was staring at them.

Earlier, Zero had pretended to kiss Lianne.

The illusion was achieved by the fact that their faces were extremely close.

He also made some minute movements of his head, as if he was kissing her deeply. His hands were by the side of her face, as if he was hiding their kiss. Thus, he could actually cover the fact that their lips were just close but not touching. It was so convincing that even those beside them thought they were kissing - let alone a guy that was watching from afar.

He then had deliberately looked at Kai to see his reaction.

That would give him a better idea of the man's thoughts.

It was also to let him know that he was well aware of the man who had his eye on 'his girl'.

Zero noted with displeasure that though the guy was pale and shocked, he was calm enough not to rush over to stop them.

It did not give Zero an excuse to punch him.

Instead, the guy just stood there, glaring at him.

This meant the guy was more trouble than he was worth.

He did not appear to look like he would give up.

Thus, after Zero broke the 'kiss', Zero made sure to give Kai a smirk before kissing Lianne on the forehead.

Pushing Kai's button more.

Still, Kai did not make a move.

Wimp.

Though that was what Zero said in his heart, he could not help but grudgingly give him credit for not making a fool of himself. It meant he was much more rationale than all of the other guys before this.

Not good.

Not good at all.

Turns out his order to continue the surveillance on Kai was a good one.

Zero's eyes narrowed and he placed his arm around Lianne's waist.

Since Kai kept following them, it was best to keep up the PDAs, right?

Then he turned to look at Kai.

And smirked.
