Lianne covered her face with her hands, completely embarrassed. Why did she not think that he may have not left yet?
Luckily, the shirt she wore did cover the lady bits a bit. So he wouldn't have seen her underwear. Sometimes her T-shirts were rather short and though not a crop top, it would have displayed her underwear clearly.
She found wearing pants rather restrictive for some reason, so she preferred just wearing shirts in the comfort of her own home.
That expression on Kai's face though.
First, total shock.
Then, like the cat who got the cream when he saw her. She saw how his eyes roamed over her, especially her bare legs.
Lianne blushed and patted her cheeks.
Despite being highly embarrassed, a part of her was rather pleased that she could get that sort of response from him.
Was this normal?
Wasn't it that women would generally find it repulsive that guys would view them as sexual objects?
Lianne bit her bottom lip.
No, it wasn't that. If anyone but Kai looked at her that way, she'd poke their eyes out. Well, figuratively speaking of course.
She'd just get MIB to make his life a little less comfortable, that's all.
After all, she was just a normal girl who couldn't really attack someone. She could defend herself, but she wouldn't be able to punch anyone or beat them up just because she was unhappy about what they did.
Lianne shook her head.
Okay, she was only normal when it came to that.
She was hardly 'normal' when one considered she had enough money that would last her ten lifetimes without working, had an international super-secret organisation called MIB that deals with almost anything to do her bidding, the billionaire Kyle to back her up for anything, the ever faithful Zero who would destroy anyone who harmed her … after Kyle was done torturing them, of course.
Not to mention, being able to know the King of the Underworld and his spouse through Kyle …
She wondered what Kai would think about that once her true background was revealed.
Well, from what she could gather about him, he would be surprised. Curious.
But that would be about it.
Kai had already proven to her that he did not care for her background - or lack of it, as he thought. Thus, even if she showed she did have some sort of backing, it wouldn't make any difference.
Plus, her backing couldn't really be revealed.
She knew that Kai would never want to use her or her backing, and more importantly, he would never allow the Shengs to do so as well.
She patted her chest and went to get something wear. She couldn't hide in her room all day now, could she?

When Lianne went out again, dressed properly this time, Kai was still working at the dining room table.
This time, however, he got up when she got closer, and he asked, "Breakfast? Or perhaps it would be better to call it brunch? It's still breakfast food though."
Lianne shook her head, and asked, "Aren't you going to work today?"
"Took the day off," Kai said.
After the kick, Kai felt it was best he spend the day here begging for forgiveness. He had a feeling that if he would leave, it would make it harder for him to get back to her good graces.
The sound of the bell rang in the apartment, and Lianne pursed her lips, knowing full well who was most likely outside the door.
Well, to give him credit, he did hold back for a day.
"Behave," Lianne said to Kai who looked at her curiously.
He followed behind her as she went to open the door, revealing a very displeased Zero.
"What's HE doing here?" Zero asked immediately, pointing at Kai.
Then his eyes narrowed at the obvious hickeys on Lianne's neck. His head whipped over to Kai, and saw that there were some marks on him, too.
When Zero looked back at Lianne, she was glaring at him with her arms across her chest.
Zero pressed his lips tightly together.
Lianne rolled her eyes, opened the door wider to let him in and went back into the living room - taking Kai's hand as she passed him. Kai looked at the hand that took his and smiled goofily.
Well, Zero was good for something.
His Angel wasn't giving him the cold treatment.
"Have you eaten?" Lianne asked Zero, as she let go of Kai's hand and headed to the kitchen. Kai followed closely behind.
Zero's eyes narrowed to see how comfortable Kai was in the apartment, even going to the right cabinets to get the plates and cutlery. The way he worked himself around the kitchen with Lianne made it look like they had been doing this for years.
Like husband and wife.
His gaze landed on Kai's work on the dining room table and his frown deepened.
It had only been two days and he has made himself at home, huh?
"No," Zero lied with a straight face.
Hearing that slight tone in his voice that Zero would have when he lied, Lianne turned to face him, giving him the knowing look.
He looked at her without shame, knowing she knew but he didn't care. Instead, he looked at her questioningly.
Lianne rolled her eyes and pointed at the cabinet which Kai had put his clothes in and said, "Leave it alone."
Zero harumphed and glanced at Lianne's bedroom door.
She rolled her eyes again, thinking she was going to get a headache for all the eye rolls she's been doing lately, and shook her head.
Satisfied, Zero plopped himself on the sofa.
At least, Kai hadn't been able to step into the 'forbidden zone' yet.
Sure, he had been the one that gave the green light and told her to give Kai a chance but wasn't this just too fast?!
When Kai had spent the first night here, he was already ready to raid the apartment and drag Kai out.
The others had to hold him back, and only when Kyle had told him to back down did he stop.
However, that darn man came *again* the next day?
And stayed the night *again*?!
The audacity.
Zero clenched his teeth.
Seeing his beloved little sister being nibbled at by the big, bad wolf made him think twice about his decision back then.
Kai leaned close to Lianne and whispered to her, "Is Zero okay?"
He could practically feel the heat and see the smoke coming out of Zero's head as he sat there on the sofa - even though his back was to them.
Lianne held back a laugh.
"Oh, he's fine," she replied, "Just someone trying to learn how to let go."
She then gave him a look, "And you. New rules, but basically. Behave."
Kai quickly pointed at his laptop and said, "I am just finishing up my report."
Lianne tilted her head.
"On the women," Kai mumbled.
Lianne smiled and patted his shoulder, "Good boy."
He leaned closer to her, his face inches away from hers, "Does this mean I can get to kiss you …. Akk!"
Before he could even finish his sentence, his collar was yanked back and a low, deep voice hissed, "No kissing!"
Lianne laughed out loud, seeing the indignant look on Kai's face and the displeased look on Zero's face. She passed them both, ignoring the two men and sat down at the dining table.
They could fight it out for all she cared, "I'm eating even if you don't want to."
Zero let go of Kai, who had just managed to land a punch on Zero and both glared at each other before quietly going to the dining table and sitting down.
Lianne put down her cutlery and glared at the both of them as they sat down, "Before we begin, new ground rules."
Zero and Kai sat up straight, their backs rigid, like two naughty school-children being reprimanded by their teacher.
Inwardly though, Kai was thrilled.
His Angel looked so tough!
