Naturally, Zero, too, was well aware of the malicious gaze Lucy was giving towards their table. A gaze that eventually settled on Lianne.
Zero's face went taut and he stared daggers back at Lucy.
Lucy, being just a normal person, obviously would feel the cold stare and be affected quite badly.
Zero was neither being nice nor holding back.
Lianne snickered as she saw the visibly pale and slightly shaking Lucy.
Weak.
Then, she scolded herself.
She should not be too judgemental. After all, how many people could really withstand Zero's glare, more so when he was serious and pissed?
Zero never retracted his gaze, even when small beads of sweat were starting to form on her forehead.
Seeing that, however, Lianne moved a bit to get into Zero's line of vision and tilted her head.
He tsked, leaning back on the chair reluctantly.
Lucy felt like she could breathe again and quickly held onto Stanley's arm.
All of what had occurred between Lucy, Zero and Lianne, had been while Stanley was talking to Kai. Kai had just told Stanley about going over to explain to Lianne when Lucy gripped Stanley's arm.
Kai noticed her pale face and how her eyes darted to Lianne's table.
He turned, curious, to see a smug Lianne and an indifferent Zero.
Lily was just smiling as she looked at both Zero and Lianne. She did not know what was going on, but she was utterly fascinated by the silent communication that was happening between Zero and Lianne.
She then took a peek at Zero.
Would she ever be able to understand him without words?
It was very apparent that he and Lianne shared a very close bond. One that she was slightly envious about for that sort of bond was rare.
She put her chin on the palm of her hand and her elbow on the table, now openly looking at Zero. He noticed her staring (of course) then turned to face her, asking, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," Lily answered with a smile, "I just thought the both of you are just so cute."
"Huh?" Zero couldn't help but say as Kai came up to them.
"I'm sorry, but something has come up," Kai said, "It'll just be a few minutes, I promise, but that guy over there is Mr Stanley, one of my investors. He said he needed to discuss a few things with me and now is the only time he has."
Kai had his hands in front of him in an apologetic manner.
Lianne shrugged, and waved him off, "Sure, not a problem. Just a few minutes is fine. I understand."
Kai looked at Lianne intensely, being very worried. Her eyes looked clear and she really did look like it was no big deal for her.
If it was up to him, he'd just drop the old fart and stay with Lianne. In all the CEO novels out there, they would drop everything, postpone meetings and such, just to be with their woman.
The reality was, one couldn't do that willy-nilly without consequence. Even if they were at the top, if you don't maintain your position and connections, you will eventually fall. Everything needed to be done properly.
Right now, the best Kai could do was insist on just a few minutes to get the most important parts done and have Zayn (his PA) handle the rest.
Any woman that Kai ended up with would need to understand that though she would be his Queen, there would be times (like this) that he would need to do some work. He wasn't as powerful as Kyle though he was fighting to get there.
To be one of the Dragons of the Business world was his goal.
He studied Lianne and saw that she truly did not mind and was relieved. As he turned to walk to Stanley, however, he began to worry.
Was the fact that she did not mind due to her really understanding his situation, or because she just didn't care enough to be bothered?
Kai sighed.
Then stealthily glared unhappily at Stanley.
If this guy was the reason his chances with Lianne became slimmer, he was going to make sure to cause a little bit of trouble for him later on. Finding out about Lucy's true nature would be good.
Humph.
Suddenly, a small smile formed on Kai's face.
Yes, that really did sound like a good idea. Killing two birds with one stone.
It would help him escape this unexpected talk and also get Lucy off his back. Though granted, she is behaving herself right now.
Still, all he wanted to do was get back to Lianne.
His mind started thinking of the next step.

Three pairs of eyes looked at Kai walking towards the table where Stanley and the lady were at.
Lily asked Lianne curiously, "Do you really not mind him ditching you like this?"
Lianne sipped on her tea and cocked an eyebrow, "First of all, he didn't ditch me. He came to tell me the reason, and that it was only for a few minutes. Secondly, he's a CEO. This is just part and parcel of his job."
Lily was impressed, for she could see that Lianne really didn't mind.
"Of course, if he takes more than 10 minutes, I'm walking out," Lianne said with a smile, "There is a limit to me being understanding."
Kai had said a "few" minutes, thus, 10 minutes was more than enough time. If he had said he needed more time, then he should have sent her home first.
Zero nodded in agreement.
Lianne was not the clingy type but it did not mean that she would allow herself to be taken advantage of. In every relationship, one had to give-and-take. There would be times when she would have to take a step back, and there would be times the other would need to.
She could see that Kai had been extremely reluctant to leave her side, so that meant that he was not making Stanley a priority. The fact that he had to go and leave meant that this really was important.
If Kai had acted as if the coincidental meeting with Stanley was far more important than their date, that is, if he showed that he was more eager for the business talk than spending time with her, Lianne would have walked off.
So far, Lianne was impressed with Kai's attitude and behaviour.
Hopefully, he won't drop the ball at the last minute.
