All this fanfare and cheering was just simply over the top.
He could have come under disguise but that would have been silly. The fact that his mother had been attacked at Country Tz meant that the enemy knew about him. If he came in disguise, they would have used it against his mother.
He was here to dig them out and ensure his mother's safety, not to make it muddier and increase the danger. For now, the best thing was not to 'beat the grass and startle the snake'; that is, one's actions must not be premature or without caution, and thereby, warning the enemy of their plans.
Still, he did not think the reception would be THIS bad.
It was enough to make him want to turn back and order the plane to go home immediately!
