Lianne tilted her head as the Matriarch raised an eyebrow.
"Please," Lianne said as she continued to smile, "You can't tell me that you didn't get a hint of my capabilities from the portrait I painted for you - and I'm not talking about the artistic skill."
The Patriarch took a deep breath and nodded, patting his wife's hand, saying, "That's enough, Aiyi."
He looked at Lianne, then at Kai, and said, "Kai has a good eye."
Kai beamed, "Naturally, Grandfather. Like you, my wife is perfect for me."
"Flaterer," the Matriarch said, pretending to look stern but there was a smile on her face.
The Patriarch took a deep breath and said as he looked at the garden, "I believe it's time."
Kai looked at his grandparents, and inevitably asked, "Time? Time for what?"
The Patriarch didn't answer, but instead, turned to look towards the butler who was always within hearing range. With a nod from the Patriarch, the butler bowed and left.
