Lianne entered the kitchen and smiled at Carl who was sitting there, having his meal.
Mama Gan didn't even raise her head, focusing on stirring the pot on the stove.
"Mama Gan, may I?" Lianne asked, indicating the tray on the counter.
Lianne knew that Mama Gan wouldn't want her to help with the cooking. Mama Gan took great pride in her cooking and any 'help' would really be a hindrance. Instead, what help Lianne could give was to lessen the burden, such as taking out the tea and setting the table.
Mama Gan nodded and Lianne observed the tray.
There was a teapot and a small container for sugar. There were no biscuits or snacks, most likely because dinner was near.
Drinks would still be served as it was the hospitable thing to do. It's just something that was commonly done for any guest, whether they were staying for long or not.
