Kai thought for a moment, his eyebrows scrunched up, "Both, I guess. Let's just say that Mum wasn't that bright to fully follow the teachings so Mama Gan had to cover up for her a few times."
"Can she be trusted?"
Kai snickered, "As long as you act according to the interest of the Shengs."
Lianne looked at Kai sadly.
"What?"
"It's been hard on you," Lianne said softly, "Not having anyone to trust."
Kai placed his hands around her waist and said, "It wasn't that bad, really. I didn't lack love."
So long as you didn't act against the interest of the Shengs, the people placed to monitor him were actually quite good.
"All you need to do to win over Mama Gan is be polite, always listen to me, and …" Kai said, trailing off.
Lianne raised an eyebrow, "Always listen to you?"
