"Sssh," Lianne said, seeing his perplexed face, "Don't overthink and don't worry about it. Those bodyguards were placed there by Kyle. Just go with the flow, okay?"
Kai nodded.
What else could he say then?
The only thing he was worried about was the reason behind the bodyguards. Was it because her life was in some sort of danger? The cost of maintaining such security was astronomically high. How long had she been under such protection?
He felt soft hands on his eyebrows, and inbetween them, as she caressed the creases caused by his frown. He heard Lianne repeating, "Stop overthinking. I'm safe, there is no danger. Kyle is just an overprotective mother hen."
Kyle? A mother hen?
Kai could not see that at all, but he took Lianne's word for it. There were other more important things to do, and discuss. Since the bodyguard issue was settled, he now had to start the process of buying the apartment and renovating it.
