Synopsis

Chapter 1 - Battlegroup A (The Maharlikas)

I am Captain Egido S. Romulo. Captain of the destroyer DV(Destroyer Vessel) San Juan. I am part of battlegroup A deployed near "Kalinga" and "Fardana" reefs. The battlegroup consists of 4 light cruisers, 3 destroyers and 1 worn out battleship. The four light cruisers were FAV(Fast Attack Vessel) namely FAV Borongan, FAV Panay , FAV Gumamela and FAV Bantayan. The 3 destroyers were DV San Lucas, DV San Isidro and yours truly, DV San Juan. The biggest and oldest ship in our battlegroup is AS(Artillery Ship) Gen. del Pilar.

Each ship class has it's role. The FAVs were used to strike and engage in close quarter combat with the enemy. Engaging them with light to moderate gun calibers. They are equiped with torpedos, 4 50 caliber machine guns and 1 3mm semi-auto cannon. The DVs are medium ships used as support for the lighter FAVs. They are equiped with 6 machine guns, 2 3mm semi-auto cannon, 6 Patriot point defence missiles, 10 Tarion cruise missiles and 4 grenade launchers. The DVs also serve as long range patrol ships and are equiped with 2 Rubber boat strikers each with 1 minigun and an assign boarding crew consisting of 8 men including the gunner. Lastly, is the battleship Gen. del Pilar. It is a massive ship, equiped with 4 6mm Howitzers, torpedos, 4 3mm semi-auto cannons and 20 50 caliber machine guns. These ships are very lethal but most often use non-lethal force methods. All of the ships are equiped with smoke launchers, smoke rounds for the guns and flash bang launchers which can be launched from the cannons.

A ship without her crew is no ship. That's what would I like to say. Each ships has its own dedicated crew. The FAVs contain 35 crew members along with it's captain. DVs contain 75 crew members with their captain and the AS contain 155 crew members along with their captain.

The battlegroup is deployed near the reefs as illegal and foreign fishermen go to the reefs and get it's resources. Not just fish but also corals, clams and even the sea bed as it is rich in organic materials used for fuel named "Joron". 10x more efficient than traditional fossile fuels. Recently, the neighboring nations discovered traces of "Joron" near the said reefs amd since then it became a flashpoint for a large scale conflict in the region.
