It is the first week of May and it is summer, the sun is shining at it's brightest
trying to prove his might. Part of the fields are drying and most of the plants
from the country withers, unable to withstand the heat. Cold drinks are a sure
hit or actually, any merchandise is cold. It is definitely an irritating time of the
year but in a happy country, everyone is still smiling.
It is Thursday afternoon, exactly 4:00 pm, the wind is blowing gently,
caressing everything it passes by. The leaves of the trees and grass seem to
be dancing in harmony along with a gentle tune, thankful maybe that they are
being fondled by such wind. The sun is preparing to set, the light is still bright,
but the afternoon sun and wind are like a perfect couple fluttering their joy in
the air.
In the heart of the city lies a famous hospital which also caters scholars
aiming to be specialists for continuous research and medical advances. At the
back of the building, there stands a man in a white coat, enjoying the peace
the gentle wind brings.
"Aah...what a beautiful day..." he said to himself.
"I hope every day is like this...just peaceful..."
He took another breath of air until a voice was heard.
"Doctor!. (pant...pant...) H-here you are..."
"Ah, Cristina it's you."
He noticed that his assistant is catching her breath as she leans over the tree.
"Is there an emergency?"
"Yes...the meeting is about to start in 5 minutes, the Director wants all the
specialists gathered by this time."
"Meeting? Oh yeah! the meeting. Sorry, I forgot."
"I literally searched the whole building" she murmured loudly.
"Hahaha! sorry about that, I appreciate the effort. But, just tell them I'm not
going."
"Eh? Whaaaat? B-but Doctor you are an important person there! The Director
will be terrified! Not to mention that you are the author of this
research. He'll kill me if I don't bring you there. So... you're just joking...right?
hehehe... (Oh please good Lord not this time)"
The Director's face keeps flashing at the back of her mind. Good enough to
give her thrills.
"Nope...it's not a joke, unfortunately, I have a date"
He just passed by on his assistant throwing his white lab coat on her.
"See you later Cristina! And make a good excuse for me ok? Bye!"
A wink from him could have melted her heart.
