Chapter 1 - Prologue: A Dream

My name is Heil Kester, I am 8 years old and currently watching youtube. My mother is a dentist, while my father is a surgeon. It seems like my family is a family of doctors and my parents are expecting my dream to be one too.

I don't have any dreams right now so I just smiled and said that I want to become a doctor. My parents are usually proud of me because I am obedient and always do well at school.

I always do what they tell me to do. They gave me a laptop on my 7th birthday because I am usually bored at home.

I usually wonder why all the kids play outside but I can't play outside like them. My parents said that they will not understand me and I will be hurt. I couldn't understand why they said that.

I envy the kids outside when I look at the window. Playing catch and running around. I also envy the way that their parents are always there for them.

My parents usually goes home at night and I am all alone in the house. I don't understand my parents but all I know is that they gave me everything and on sundays I feel really happy to be with them.

Although I am young, I can already do most of the chores and cook for myself because my parents cannot trust any helper so they left me all alone here in the house. Luckily, my aunts and uncle usually visits. There was some point that my aunt, Lyza Mowter lived with me to take care of me. But after I learned to cook and do chores she went back to her home because it was far.

I go to school but today is summer vacation. When vacation ends, I will be Grade 4.

I am watching cat videos at youtube currently but I saw something. It said "Young Boy wins Millions of Dollars while playing a game." I got curious and clicked it to watch it.

My life changed when I watched it. I was amazed by the game and overwhelmed by the fact that someone could win lots of money while playing games.

I am amazed so I searched in the search bar at youtube the game. It was called Dota 2.

I clicked one video that is 40 mins long and watched it. It was amazing. You pick a hero. Your hero can kill the so called creeps to gain gold to buy objects that make you strong. The goal of the game is to destroy every tower until you can reach the Ancient Tower to destroy it. You also have to fight 5 enemy heroes with your 4 ally heroes.

I searched on youtube "Dota 2 how to play" then watched a lot of videos. I wanted to play it so while watching videos about dota 2 I waited for my parents to tell them I would like to play this game.

After a while, my parents finally came home and I asked them to download the game. My father asked why I would like to play this game. I said excitedly that I was amazed by the mechanics of the game and I told them the story of how a young person won millions of dollar playing it.

My parents were happy that I seemed excited for once. So my father downloaded the game and told me that if I wanted to play I have to teach myself. Also, go to bed at 8pm. Currently it was 6:32pm so I still have a hour to try the game.

So I first ate dinner with my parents then I went to my room and tried to play a match. My father created me a account and asked what my in game name will be. I said just put Heil. So my game name was Heil.

I opened Dota 2 and it seemed that the way to play the game is clicking the Find a Match button so I did. After a couple of seconds a box appeared and said (Accept) so I clicked it. The game started and it was telling me to choose a hero.

I choose the hero that looked cool to me that is named "Omniknight". After a minute a world appeared and my hero has appeared. I clicked right click because I read that using the right click makes it walk. I didn't know how to play so I just walked around in circles. After a while I saw an enemy and tried to right click it. I hit the enemy so I did it again. After a while my hero died. I was frustrated and didn't know what to do. So I did it again and again until my team lost.

I was confused and angry that I lost so exit the game and wanted to delete it. I didn't delete it because I remembered that video of the young guy who won and had a lot of glory.

I just clicked the shut down button on my laptop and went to bed.

I woke up. Did some chores. Cooked breakfast and ate. Then, texted my parents that I already ate. I walked towards my room took a book at my shelf and studied a little.

After a while, I opened my laptop and opened Google Chrome then went to Youtube.

I watched dota 2 tutorial videos for an hour. Rested my eyes. Then, I went towards a room and used the threadmill. After a while I went to the bathroom and took a bath.

After my bath I looked at the clock and it was already 11:30am so I went to the kitchen to cook something. I ate my lunch then looked at the clock again to see that it was 12:21 so I went back to my room.

I readied myself and opened the Dota 2. After Dota 2 opened I quickly clicked find a match. A match was found. It was the hero selection now.

This time I knew to play a little and picked the hero that seemed to be the hero for beginners. Which was the hero "Sniper". This time I could buy items and use skill points. I put my skill point in Take Aim.

The creep spawned and I now knew what to do. I went in the middle lane. My opponent was a "Huskar". I right clicked the creeps while keeping the enemy in check.

It seemed like the enemy is getting angry at me because sometimes I hit his hero so the "Huskar" is trying to hit me as well but because we are both level 3 my Take Aim is now at level 2 and my range is higher so I can hit him then run if he wants to go near me.

After a while I could feel the impatience of the Huskar so he walked towards me near the tower. The allied creeps seemed to kill all the enemy creeps so went to hitting Huskar. That didn't stop the Huskar and still went for me until the tower hit him and he noticed so he went back but the creeps blocked his way and the tower hit the Huskar 3 times. I noticed this so I went back. I approached and attacked Huskar which the Huskar noticed and tried to attack me but his hp was low so after 2 attacks Huskar was killed. (First Blood) I was thrilled because it was my first kill of this game.

The game went on with my teams momentum and I bought items recommended. After 20 minutes I got 6 more kills 3 from Huskar, 2 from his teammate Drow Ranger, and another 1 from his other teammate Sven.

After 20 more minutes the game ended with my score being 14/2/7. I still got killed twice because I was reckless.

The game was fun but I didn't seem to like it very much so I closed Dota 2 again and just watched videos.

I watched a lot of videos about dota 2. And I saw a lot of videos. One video made me feel amazed. A video about Earthshaker. It was an amazing gameplay. And I learned about "supports". Because of that video I wanted to be a support player.

I watched a lot of support player videos and the more I watch it the more I become amused.

A certain video made me dream. A video about champions. I could feel the excitement within me surging. I could hear voices inside my head that says I too want to have glory like that.

That video about the guy who worked hard and finally he became a dota 2 champion alongside his team.

That video made me want to dream big. I wanted to win the Aegis of the Immortal.
