I still remember my horror when I first woke up in the hospital bed, finding myself alive and breathing. There'd been no one around me. I could hear the silence of the breeze, the rustling of the leaves outside the large okawood window... and the quiet beeps of the monitor beside my bed.
" Where in the world am I? " was all my mind could think. The place was eerily silent and the silence got onto my nerves.
Just when I was about to quit the mum show, the door opened and a nurse had come in, holding a tray and a plastic smile on her face. I wondered why did she even care to show the courtesy. But little did I know that, that very thought of mine would land me in such a great disaster later.
"How are you feeling now? " she had asked placing the tray on the table, her smile now was mysterious, yet far from friendly. " I'm okay. " The moment I spoke those words, I instantly knew something was very wrong. But I couldn't actually place my finger on it. My eyebrows creased and I fell into a deep thought. My eyes roved around the room in confusion. They finally stopped on the nurse. Her plastic smile now gone, she was staring at me. I tried to smile, but neither my mind nor my body were in any mood to follow my orders.
I watched in horror as she lifted her hand and blinded me with a glowing light, the source of which I couldn't make out. I'd tried to scream, I had wanted to escape, but everything went in vain.
