The day was bright and sunny, like any other. The birds were chirping, the streets were busy, and kids were playing in the park. Men and women were chatting, taking about ask the latest gossip.
" Did you hear about that prissy that was found dead in the small cathedral down in City B?"
"Oh God! Really? I thought that was a joke. At least his funeral can be held where the died."
"Not funny! Did you hear about the two kids at that prestigious boarding school? The police say that they both died of a heart attack and then burnt!"
"Oh! You mean that big library fire! There were kids in it?!"
The chattering continued and the gossipers continued to speak without care, not noticing the discomfort of a nearby pedestreian.
Kei had left the church 15 minutes before the cops arrived. The only reason they had shown up was because an old lady has came wanting to get advice about her son and his unhealthy stale sick collection. Instead of getting advice, she got a fright.
Seeing how the life kept moving even when multiple deaths occured in this small town was very disheartening. Hope world was crumbling spray and yet others treated everything as mere wind. Kei could only shake his head and continue to walk.
...
Arriving at a small warehouse, Keep pushed open the rusted for to reveal a camp and dim room. The only light source was a large slightly boarded window 18 meters off the ground. Kei looked around, looking for someone, but he could not make out the shadowy figure anywhere.
'maybe he's gone...' Kei thought, becoming agitated at the thought of being abandoned in such a predicament.
He eased his body into the room stealthily, trying not to make to much noise when suddenly a clammy hand covered the boy's face.
Kei's initial response to such an attack was to elbow his assailant in the crotch before running away (you can't change his coward nature in one night). A stifled grunt came from behind him before his attacker spoke to him through gritted teeth.
"You could have waited 'till I said 'guess who' before trying to kill me!! Right in the jewels!"
Kei turned around at the familiar voice but instead of seeing the person he expected, Kei saw a tall man dressed in a trenchcoat and snugly wrapped in a scarf. His red (and teary) eyes were covered by thin rimmed glasses.
"Who...?"
"You can't recognize me? Oh yeah! I never properly introduced my self. I am Locke Silio Basque, half human, at your services."
"..." half human? Then what the heck was the other half?!
There was an awkward silence. Locke started at Kei expectantly.
"Oh... I'm Kei... Kei Maimon... whole human-"
Locke snickered say Kei's statement. Confused, Kei asked what was so funny.
" You are definitely not fully human, otherwise you wouldn't have been able to best the djinn by just punching it. You are like me, if not even weirder."
" What do you mean?"
" I mean you are another half human. I'm guessing the reason why you never knew it was because you were 'Sleep'."
" What do you mean 'Sleep'? I wake up every morning to go to a hell whole with a while bunch of a*shats and douches! And half human? what the hell is the other half?!"
Well have time to answer them later, but for now we need to move."
With that he turned and walked out the door leaving a very confused Kei standing in the middle of an empty dank room.
" So many questions!
