Chapter 87 - Library girl

So based on what they said, they have a bad relationship, don't they? I turn to Erika.

"Looks like they know each other,"

"You could say that they do." (Erika)

"Hello Vanessa," Samantha says with an annoyed voice. "Didn't see you there, probably cause you're always hiding where people can't see you so you can follow them." (Samantha)

"Hello Samantha, maybe you'd be able to see me if didn't end up on the ground every time you saw me." (Vanessa)

"Do they have some sort of bad relationship?" (Luis)

She sighs.

"In short, yes" (Erika)

"Really now? I just didn't want to see your ugly face that's why I was looking down." (Samantha)

"No, I'm sure you just wanted to see if you could find a better make up color by applying some dirt." (Vanessa)

"Something happens between them?" (Luis)

"What, interested?" (Erika)

"We're not talking about your hobbies here" (Samantha)

"I know, we're talking about yours." (Vanessa)

"Not really, but if that is the case then this is bound to be annoying. (Luis)

I"m not sure whether it would be a good idea to introduce Jennifer to both parties, so I'd have made either one get friendly with her... Human relations are so complicated...

"Really, how is that?" (Erika)

"You seem like the perceptive type, you'll figure it out." (Luis)

"Probably." (Erika)

"I know, we're talking about yours." (Vanessa)

"Better than your stalking hobby." (Samantha)

"Those both have always had some sort of rivalry when it comes to fighting." (Erika)

"Isn't Vanessa way stronger than Samantha though?"

"Yes, but that didn't use to be the case back in elementary school. The gap now is big but the rivalry they feel is still there. Hold on a second." (Erika)

"At least-" (Vanessa)

"Both of you! Shut the fuck up already!" (Erika)

They both became quiet as soon as she finished shouting. They both are certainly more powerful than Erika, that's if we were to just count strength alone I guess.

"I'm leaving," I say as I walk away.

"Alright." (Erika)

"See you around." (Samantha)

"Goodbye." (Vanessa)

I start walking away towards the library. Alright, now, onto my main issue. Jennifer, the only thing I can think of to make here less shy is by having conversations frequently however there's a problem with that. The first is that by talking to me she's only comfortable with me rather than being 'less shy.'

The easiest way would be to either have a group of people meeting her or have her approach someone who she has affection for. But I don't know a single thing about this girl besides her being 'the library girl.'

Ugh...I hate that stupid hag for giving me this condition. I could choose not to do it but it might affect my plans about learning things... Ugh! Alright, whatever... I'm already at the library, what can I do?

I walk into the library and both, Tess and Jennifer are behind the counter.

"Sup Tess, Hello Jennifer."

"....." (Jennifer)

"Hello kid, you here for another book?"

"No, I'm here for her," I say as I point to Jennifer.

"You're quite the romanticist aren't you?"

"You know exactly what I meant, but if that's how you want to perceive it then so be it."

"...I'm going to get a reaction from you one of these days."

"Yeah, yeah."

"Alright then," She turns to Jennifer, "Time for you to do what I explained to you yesterday."

What "she explained yesterday"? Did she tell her that she arranged this to get over her shyness? Wouldn't that have an adverse effect though? Unless she told her something different.

".....Okay."

Whatever, no use worrying about it right now.

"Then, should we go and find a table or something?"

"...Okay."

Is that the only word this girl knows? I start walking towards a place where I don't sense many people and she starts following behind after going around the desk.

"Don't kidnap her okay." (Tess)

"Where exactly would I take her if I did?"

"Good point."

After walking for a while and finding a desk we decided to take a seat. We both seat at either end of the table and say nothing...

What exactly should I talk about? I didn't think of that when I said that I had to have conversations with her, I was busier trying to wrap my head around other things... I don't think she will speak up so I have to find something to talk about... Would she talk about book?... I read books when I was at school but it was mostly informational and I don't know if they have those types of books here...

Maybe, why she became a librarian... Talking to people is difficult, but, that's the best I've got so far... Maybe another self-introduction since we only know each other's names. I'll do that.

I clear my throat to get her attention.

"Why don't we introduce ourselves again. We each say our name, one thing we like and one thing we dislike, how about that?"

Looks like I somehow became an elementary school teacher but I'll roll with it.

".....Ok..."

This is more troublesome then I thought it would be..... Maybe I was too hasty on my deal with that hag.

"So then, I'll start I guess. My name is Luis, I like...." What exactly do I like doing? I came here to read books but that's only for research, I don't particularly like it I just needed it since I don't want to lack knowledge... Training?.... But that's also a necessity that I hold myself to... I've been quiet for too long. I have to say something else.

"Screw what I like, what I dislike..." are people since I don't necessarily trust them and they are annoying... But I can't say that to this girl since it will make this more difficult than it already is... "Alright, screw that too, this is more difficult than I thought it would be."

She makes a small giggle... I sigh. It can't be helped, I guess that's good enough for now I guess. I still need something to pass the time. I guess I'll just do what I'm able to do.

"How about we just try reading a book in silence."

"Okay."

Her response hasn't changed but at least it was immediate this time around. I guess that's some progress.
