She looks at me with a mad look on her face. She probably has some sort of image that she tries to maintain with the students. Like a dignified principal who's strict on students or something like that, well, I couldn't care less. She was the one who forced this on me to begin with...However, now that I see an opening, it's my turn to exploit it.
"Is something the matter Principal, why are you so quiet now when we were having a lovely chatter beforehand," I say with a hint of sarcasm
She remains silent, I have a slight smirk on my face.
"...*Clears throat* It's nothing, you're right, I apologize for pointing at you. Now, onto the main point, Vanessa, could you to show him around the school? He will be a new student here when school starts in a week. I'd like to get him acquainted with the facilities and to his dorm. He'll be sleeping in Dorm B, Room 103. His phone is already programmed for him to enter." (Principal)
"I understand Principal Carter." (Vanessa)
"Alright, in that case, you're dismissed." (Principal)
"Okay then," she says as she exits and waits for me.
Her personality just did a 180, it's pretty interesting. I guess keeping an image is hard.
"Goodbye, Prin-ci-pal Carter," I say as I exit the room.
I look at the waiting Vanessa, alright, time to get a move on I guess. She starts walking away without saying anything and I follow right behind her. After we exit the building she finally speaks to me.
"Why are you being so rude to Principal Robinson, do you have any idea what she can do."
"Do tell."
"She could make one of the marks appear on your hand if you don't behave or she could constantly punish you for minor things.."
I sigh, are these rumors that are going around? First of all, if she was able to do that she would lose credibility as a principal. Secondly, "Have you ever witnessed it in action?"
"...No, but-"
"Then there's no buts. You were going to take me around right? I just have four requests. A place to buy clothing, a place to eat, a place to train and the library. I couldn't care less about anything else...and my room actually, that makes five."
If she hasn't witnessed it then in all due likelihood is a rumor spread to have the students behave better, I mean the principal I met while being questioned is not as much of a stickler for rules as she makes it sound. I'll ignore that and just focus on getting out of here and might as well start working things out now. I just need to know where they train, where the library is, where to eat, and where to sleep. After that, everything is secondary.
"You know, you're pretty rude."
"Pfff"
"What is it?"
That's the mildest insult I remember hearing.
"No, nothing, nice to know one of my future classmate thinks so."
"...ok, so where are you transferring from?"
This girl's annoying, I don't feel like talking, I don't even need a navigator because of this phone. Now what to do about this girl? She will definitely keep bothering me If I don't answer some of her questions. I sigh.
"...I'm willing to answer some questions as long as we get a move on, keep in mind that there are some questions I can't answer. Let's start with a clothing store first."
I don't feel right if I am not wearing a jacket.
"Oh, that's in town. We would have to take the subway that-"
"Just show me everything else that I mentioned, I'll go by myself another time."
I'm not staying with her for that long. There's a subway here though? It's probably just to get there and back with no other destination.
"Alright! In that case, what about we go to whatever is closest"
"Sure, let's get a move on."
This place is huge, why exactly is it so big? I expand my sensing range, there are more people than before. Is it because it's finally noon?
"So, first question transfer student, what's your name?"
"Luis."
I try expanding my sensing range a bit more in order to inspect the walls. It looks like the gates are open but the walls are solid.
"Where are you from."
"New York."
I can't tell because I am not close but I can tell that they are at least 10 times stronger than the cell I was in, so breaking it would definitely be impossible for the current me. Vanessa stops walking. I ignore it and just keep on walking.
"You aren't from outside the country?"
"I only answer the questions of people who are directing me to where I am supposed to go."
She runs up in order to get in front of me.
"Don't expect to be nice to you once school starts!"
"I don't."
We keep on walking and she remains silent. I could try peaking at her mind to see if she's thinking anything bad but it would probably be a waste of time. My mind element isn't the best and she's probably just thinking of the next question she wants to ask. I sense people from the place we are walking towards.
"So that over there is the food court?"
"Yes, there are two food courts in total but you can eat almost anywhere you like. We would've gotten to the other if we had headed toward the high school's side"
"Ok."
Wait, she said if we had headed to the high school then there would have been another...
"Why are we heading to the middle school's side, aren't we in high school?"
"What do you mean, 9th grade is still middle school isn't it?"
Not for the rest of America. So the cut off is different here than in the rest of America? Why though? Why would they go through the trouble? Is there's a special reason? I need to go to that library as soon as possible.
"I guess it's slightly different here from than from where I come from."
"Yeah! Actually back to that, how come you are from New York, I've never heard of no magical institution that's from there."
That's right, people here are born with the power already. I guess I was careless in my answers because I didn't care before. The only way a magical student would come here in their minds would be from another country. However, even that isn't anything realistic. I can't picture other nations sending any magic soldiers to another nation, even if they are allies.
Back to what Vanessa said...how do I handle this situation?
"...You have heard of the human experimentations right?" (Luis)
"...Yes?"
"That's all I can say, everything else is classified information." (Luis)
"Classified information?"
"Feel free to draw your own conclusions. Now if that's the cafeteria I just need to know where the training facility is and where the dorms are, let's move along. "
"...Ok."
She leads around silently again, we take a right and go around the cafeteria. After a few moments of silence, she speaks up again.
"That building over there is the Training facility for middle schoolers and if you look to the left, that's the middle school. If we go farther in the dorms are located there."
"Ok."
Looks like this tour is almost over. She looks like she's in deep concentration. Is she thinking of her own conclusions?
"So is that the library?"
"Yes, also, before we go to the library. Are you by any chance a product of illegal human experimentation with Neo waste?"
I just shrug. I can see why she would draw such a conclusion but she isn't anywhere near close.
"Anwer my question!!"
"Didn't I say before that there are questions I can't answer? Let's get a move on."
That phrasing may cause a little of a misunderstanding but I don't really care right now. I 'm just going to the library and then just go to the dorms and try to see what I make of the situation
She stops and looks at me with a cute face and with a soft voice she said, "Can't you tell me?"
So she's trying to appeal to me by using her face?
" I chuckle, that's a pretty interesting face you're putting on there. Where you expecting me to cave under that? I got better things to do kid, I'll see you some other time" I say as I walk past here.
"Wait! I have to help you or the principal might get mad."
"The principal isn't here right? I just have to tell her that you did help me get there."
"But, I'll get a mark on my hand if I don't go with you!"
I sigh.
"Why do you think that."
"Because you can't not follow a faculty command or you'll get a mark for it."
I sigh.
"Well, that wasn't a command, If you remember the principal's words she said 'could you.' That is considered a request, not a command."
"But-"
"See ya," I say as I walk away.
