Chapter 44 - End of Crips (Part 1)

Shit, I'm already late for work. I woke up late at the Vigilantes' place and had to run to my house to put on normal clothes and then started running towards work. Hopefully, I don't get there too late. I ran and get to work about 2 hours late. I open the employee room to find a very upset manager... Ah, crap.

"Why are you this late?" (Manager)

"Umm...There's a perfectly sound explanation-" (Luis)

"I don't care about any explanations! I already warned you before what would happen if you messed up again! You are fired!" (Manager)

Well, shit.

"...I understand."

I leave the store. Well, even if I were to try and fight back me getting fired I would have to stop working next week regardless, next week... I wonder. Is Mary back?... I have some free time today, I will pay her a visit.

I take the subway to where she lives and get off at her station. I walk near her house and try to sense if she's inside... I sigh. I guess she wouldn't be back today. I still have some free time before we attack the Bloody Crips today.

Should I pay a visit to Tara's grave?... Guess not, I don't want to face Tara as of yet. I'll just head back on the train and train.

After I finished training I headed back to my apartment to rest for a while. I look at my clock, it looks like it's almost time to take down the Bloody Crips. I get off my bed and stand up. I put on everything I need and head out to our meeting place.

We agreed to meet near the building where we first met after Agus called them. I arrive at the place and see all 5 of them waiting already.

"Looks like you are here." (Peter)

"We welcome the new member of the NYC Vigilantes!" (Argus)

"Congratulations!" (Rebecca and Sara)

"Shhh, we are gonna get found out." (Luis)

I try my best to keep a poker face. I'm happy but I'd rather always show the somewhat stiff expression I've always had. Well, it's not like they can see through this mask anyways.

"So, how's it feel to be one of us?" (Argus)

Pretty great.

"Not much different then what it felt like to be myself yesterday, Let's focus on what's in front of us for now." (Luis)

"Come one, you know you are happy about joining us!" (Argus)

"Don't you think you guys are lacking tension before we go in there?" (Luis)

"What do you mean?" (Sara)

"I mean, we are about to raid a place that has way more people than us, don't you think we should be a bit more nervous?" (Luis)

"What for? We already did this once before." (Argus)

"And in that one time, two of us almost ended up dead." (Luis)

"...I know what you mean but...what's the use in worrying let's just do what we came to do." (Sara)

I sigh.

"I guess, let's just go over the plan one more time." (Luis)

"Alright then, in short. We'll have Luis infiltrate by himself while we make a distraction outside. Luis will go in and kill jefe, after that he'll go up and keep up his sensing radius. Luis will send a text saying where the police is coming from. The goal is to have perfect timing with the police so that we're out of there before it's too late but not too early either. This plan rides on you Luis, you fail and we're all screwed. No pressure though." (Sara)

"Yes, none at all." (Luis)

"Well, we all know what we are doing so is everyone ready then?" (Sara)

"Yes!" (Argus and Rebecca)

"Ready here.' (Peter)

"Same here." (Luis)

Alexander nods

"In that case let's move out."

I go up to the roof of the building we are near and start heading towards Bloody Crip's building. The plan is to give me five minutes to enter, they won't really know whether I'm in or not so I have to be in there before they start. Since once they do everybody will be on high alert. We'll only use the cell phones to escape so I'll basically have to stay vigilant.

If you consider it rationally, it would be better to be all together after I'm done with Jefe and just retreat when I yell out. But for whatever reason, my sensing radius becomes larger when I'm higher up so we plan to use that to our advantage.

Also, in order to have a better estimate of when the police will arrive, I'll be the one calling, and I'll have to break the phone after I send the text. After the text, we'll be meeting at the Vigilante's apartment.

I jump onto the bloody crips building and check the time. I got two minutes until they start shooting. The security is pretty lax around here compared to the Crimson Night's. Then again, they were having Rodriguez come in so they were bound to be uptight.

I sense the inside of the building once more to see if there are any changes to the inside... It looks like there isn't much of a change. I sense some people being held in there with no guns as well, those are probably the people that are supposed to be handed to their family once the transaction has been paid.

I kind of feel sorry for them, when the shooting starts and the police get here in all due likelihood they'll end up either dead or deported. Even if they manage to escape they won't know where they are so it'll just be a futile effort... I sigh.

I check the phone, one minute left. I could try helping them but there's only so much that one person can do and if I only help them half-way then there's more harm done. I understand now that you can't really save everyone, there's a limited amount of things a person can care about. If a person tried to care about everything, then they would just end up desensitized.

*Pam**Pam*

The first bullets go off and the attack starts. My job is to stand by for now and offer help if they need it. I don't think they'll need much help anyways I'll just sense the situation outside and shoot whenever it is needed.

Many people are going to the entrance and the gunfire intensifies. You can hear an absurd amount of bullets being shot. Looks like it's a good time to call. I take out my phone and dial the police. I better sound panicked when I do this.

"9**, what's your emergency." (Operator)

"There a gunfight going on! There are people shooting around here, help please!" (Luis)

"Sir, I need you to calm down, where is this?"

"On *** street!"

"I understand, we are on our way."

I hang up the phone. Alright, that's one step done. I try sensing one more time inside the building. What the hell?! A group of people is coming up the stairs being led by an extremely well-known presence.

I take out my gun and point it at the door. The door opens and I meet his eyes. Looks like my target just came to me.

"Fancy meeting you here."

"So it was you after all," he sighs. "I thought that it might've been Crimson Lotus. They are a merciless bunch after all."

Merciless bunch? What does he mean by that? Didn't the Vigilantes said...

"Would you do me a favor and drop your gun." (Luis)

"Sure, but can you exchange that favor for another one?"

"I don't think you are in any position to say that."

"Just hear me out."
