Calisa watched the sun disappear from the sky, sketching an orange hue over the darkened sky and inconspicuous clouds. The festival would officially begin as soon as the moon blackened. She would bear the torch this year since her masters commanded it, even though she had passed the initiation trial some years before. Calisa was not worried about failing. In fact, she felt somewhat inspired to showcase her abilities for the younger prospects.
With the fire festival beginning in a few hours, the senior members of the Flame Lily watched the newer ones closely. Calisa examined them from where she stood as well. This year's 12 prospects were jittery and nervous, revealing signs of their incompetence. Feelings were natural, but they should never let their emotions control them. It was the only way in which they, as trained killers, can survive.
When Master Ara had chosen her for this year's fire festival, Calisa had thought something was odd. The Masters could have chosen one of the prospects to demonstrate the strength necessary of becoming one of the Flame Lilies. Even as Calisa thought that she would never openly question her Masters since they were responsible for the clan and they were always right.
..
Soon night came and Calisa was standing atop of the tallest house. The summer nights breeze brushed passed her white skin. Suddenly recalling her old memories when she first started as a rookie assassin, she was excited for her mission and was eager to show her master the skills she had pratice under 2 years of training.
As Calisa was waiting for her first mission from her master she was relaxed because she knows she will ace it. When her master came in with her pet she was assign to take care of for a week she looked puzzled. And then right when Calisa wanted to ask.. Her master said " You must kill it."
Calisa hesitated and ask why but her master's stern look made her think that there was no way out of this. So with all the strength and energy she had she took the dagger from her pocket and killed it. That same night Calisa cried for her pet she had yet named. Before she realizes it was already dawn .
Calisa was into her own memories, when she suddenly heard some shuffles behind her. But before she could react she was already pinned down to the ground by the mysterious person. She tried to swiftly counterattack the mysterious person but her attack was blocked again.
Calisa was about to attacked again with her dagger but the mysterious person flipped her over so she landed on top of him.
Calisa thought she had the upper hand and was about to strike him but found the mysterious person's eyes familiar looking and almost hesitated. She decided to not care and was going to slash his neck until she heard a familiar voice from him.
"Hey! Are you actually going to kill me??!" Right when Calisa heard that she immediately pull down his mask. To her surprise it was the mysterious and dangerous merchant she encounter from before. Shocked she asked him "What are you doing here?"
Merchant replied " Just came to look around and find you." The merchant found Calisa intriging so he wanted to find a chance to meet up with her but didn't always see her come out often.
The festival was about to start when the moon blackened, Calisa did not have anymore time to waste on him. She had to be ready to initiate the torch again this year.
Calisa then waited on standby to see when the signal is being given out. Curious, the merchant ask Calisa what she was doing. She did not want to disclose anything to him because she does not trust this dangerous and mysterious merchant and since he was an outsider to the association.
