Chapter 1 - Dante’s Hell

You are on the verge of a panic attack. Everything you knew, everyone who you know are all miles far. Now you find yourself alone in an alien land and not knowing whether to cry or scream. There was something in your mind that bothered about the fact that you were getting a pent house at the price of a single bedroom apartment. It was your fault trusting a mere Internet advertisement and wrapping an entire life long of things in a single suitcase to land here .

Well as much as you try pacifying yourself that may be the dark and smelly alley was the problem and the apartment may not be that bad, the evidence was clear. You were duped to buy an apartment with your live savings in the most shadiest part of the town. There was clearly no penthouse in this building which was seemed to be more fragile than a house of cards.

Yeah right penthouse!! Sure if you call the half on the ground and half on God's mercy building regal enough then yeah it must have a penthouse at the top . you pray that the stairs clinging for mercy to the side of the building can hold on a little longer so that you might actually survive this bad phase.

You take a quick and short breath and try to avoid the stench contaminating your lungs more than it already has. You decide to pull yourself together and for the hundredth time, place a call to that crooked guy who sold this dumpster to you. As expected it goes unattended.

There is pretty much nothing else left to do than face the reality. It is an alien city and this was the only roof that will help you survive the city till you get your ground.

You pick up the suitcase that you had thrown in rage over seeing such a charming building in a dark alley that for sure was home to the worst criminals. You drag the suitcase along with your body to open the door to the building.

You try to twist the handle and even without putting much effort, the handle has come off the door and now sits shamelessly in your hands. You wonder whether this will be the all of the excitement that you would be getting for the day or it was just a prelude.

Mercifully the door is opened and before it gets shut again, you rush to quickly get in. Any hope that this was all a nightmare and an actual penthouse was waiting inside gets broken the minute to see the inside of the building .

You are sure that some kind of alien science has to be in play if the building has survived so long . The first thing you notice is the moulds and the disaster of a piece that go as walls for this building. You wonder whether moulds have cropped up over the years or gradually evacuating the building after years of residing here.

Clearly you decide that God is in love with you because there is no lift in the building and you have a penthouse to your name. You correct yourself once again to not get Into the habit of calling this abomination and the hell you paid on the 10th floor of this building as penthouse. You would hereby call it Dante's hell.

You see no point in crying because it is clear that the air has sucked out everything out of you, including your tear ducts and willing to live. So with nothing left to do, you start your climb towards Dante's hell on the 10th floor.

By the time you reach the 10th floor, you are sure years have passed. Your younger sister probably would have gone to college and even got married with kids by now. It certainly felt like it.

Either the oasis effect was at play or finally the trauma had started to kick in because in your front is a much better looking door. You had dragged through nine levels of this building to see doors and apartments at various levels of decay . So shock wasn't the perfect word. It was more of a relief to see a sturdy red color door waiting for you at the 10th floor.

At least you are getting some ray of light in this awful day. You stand there at the top of the stairs to take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the door. You remind yourself of your pathetic state where you are happy to see a sturdy door. After appreciating the work of art for minutes, you hunt for the key set for the apartment that was couriered to you before you landed in this city

It is now that you have the keys in your hand, that you notice how both the key chain and the motif carved on the door was the same. An intricate design with wings and serpents coiled together. Considering that you have had a great day so far, you take the risk of disappointing yourself further by opening the door.

You mentally prepare yourself to face whatever it was behind the door. There was no other option but to survive it till you find another place in this city. With your heart beating to the point of coming out of your body at any time , you unlock the door and step inside

Two things was coming clear to you. One that trauma has truly set it. Another that you were going to be a VIP member in any of the psychiatric ward the City had to offer. your eyes were definitely playing tricks with you because there was no way that a dilapidated building pushed far into a dark and stingy alley could hold a marble floored and pristine glass covered penthouse
