Chapter 8 - Rest Peacefully, My Dear

"You could say that since you'll get my power."

Li Fei was skeptical. Could she trust the little girl? What if she signed the contract and the demon ate her soul in the end? The little girl also said that this case rarely happened because the host had to be strong enough to withstand the demon's power.

"You sure I won't be dead?" Li Fei asked. It was a simple question, however it contained an underlying meaning.

The little girl laughed. "Why? Afraid I might bite?"

"Well, you're a demon alright."

"Tsk!" The little girl waved her index finger, "How rude. You're being racist now. Don't worry, I keep my words since I need your soul to replenish mine too."

"Whatever." Li Fei spread out her hands, surrendering her fate to this little demon. It was not like she had other option. "How do we do this?"

The little girl raised her index finger again and she drew a spell down on the ground. A circle with golden line emitting dark aura was slowly created. There were ancient markings around the outer layer of the circle. From the middle of the circle, ten lines were drawn, stretching out to meet the second ring inside the first circle. Then slowly, between the first and second ring, ten striking ancient symbols appeared in correspond to the ten lines.

As the Spell Binding Contract was completed, the circle glowed brightly, radiating intense energy. Even Li Fei who currently had only little knowledge on spiritual energy and magic could feel the force from the spell. Any suspicion she had towards the little girl's power had gone now.

"I thought you said your power had diminished a lot now," teased Li Fei.

The little girl raised an eyebrow and folded her arms in front of her chest. She chuckled.

"I never said I was weak though?"

Li Fei clicked her tongue and looked away from her. Such arrogance! Hmph! Not weak? Then, why did she still need my soul? Luckily she was just a little girl or Li Fei would've smacked her head or bullied her after they had merged.

"What now?" Li Fei asked as she bent down to touch the circle.

Li Fei failed to see it, as at this moment, a malicious smile had blossomed on the little girl's face. The color of her ruby eyes became even more bloody. She licked her lips joyfully. Before Li Fei could lay her eyes back on her, at the speed of light, the dark fog had condensed into a sharp black sword. As soon as Li Fei stood up, the sword had pierced right through her heart.

'THUD'

Li Fei dropped down on her knees with a loud bang. She felt an extremely intense pain on her chest. Then, it spread towards the other parts of her body. Dark energy began to invade her nerves through her veins. Li Fei raised her hand and found that dark lines had appeared on it as if she was poisoned.

"Pfftt..."

Li Fei let out a mouthful of blood before she started coughing and heaving heavily. When she tried to focus her eyes, she could see a pool of black liquid on the ground in front of her. It was her blood which had turned pitch-black.

The drawing of the spell was generously baptized by her black blood and the ten lines in the middle of the circle suddenly shone even brighter. The contaminated blood slowly moved itself towards the lines as if being pulled by the magic. It first flowed into the inner circle then spread out to the ten lines. When the lines had been basked with Li Fei's blood, the ten ancient symbols that had lit up in golden light became murky all of the sudden.

The defiled energy soon enveloped the surroundings and the air became thinner. Li Fei's whole body was now sprawled on the outer circle. Her chest was going up and down in a fast pace. The black sword had long disappeared and returned into its original form of black fog.

Li Fei squeezed her chest tightly. She had been trying to speak up but somehow nothing came out. Her voice was gone. She could only gritted her teeth while sweating profusely as the pain gnawed all over her body.

The little girl gazed down at Li Fei condescendingly. Her eyes looked extremely murderous. Another smile blossomed yet again on her pale face. She began controlling the dark fog around her again as it streamed down towards Li Fei's body. It surrounded her like a cloak then lifted her body up. It carried her to the center of the circle.

The little girl then walked towards Li Fei. She bent down her body and came face to face with Li Fei from above. The little girl smiled as she caressed Li Fei's cheeks. Li Fei glared at her. If she could, she would slap her hand away.

"Don't worry, My Dear," she whispered, "Just close your eyes. Let go."

The little girl put her hands on Li Fei eyes, blocking her vision. Immediately, Li Fei began to feel light-headed. Even though her heart was in panic, there was nothing she could do now. Her consciousness was slowly drifting away and she could feel her body started to loosen up. Soon, she fell into a deep sleep.

The last thing she heard was the voice of the devil who delivered her sentence.

"Rest peacefully, My Dear."
